Taco Charlton is apparently just another Peppi Zellner. That pick doesn't look promising.
more like Ekuban! Zellner was selected in the 4th round and played 6 or 7 years in the NFL. Ekuban was a first rounder that Dallas traded up to get, and didn't do much of anything on the football field.

qb was reaching down for bag and had disc problem, put him on ir, maybe get a game check or 2, settle him
what i saw with asoua, in coverage, liked neal # 66, de, get young guys, woody baron another guy,
then he lined up against tyron
collins had good game chasing things till hip flexor
lenny jones had a couple of nice rushes
on taco, battled dan skipper is one of those guys when unpiling skipper is still blocking
lael collins throat slammed taco
veterans like domontroe know u cant let the OL our super players get their hands on you, so these young players have to learn pass rush moves
tapper has to learn pass rush moves, techniques,
ol are only good when they know how to hold trip and clip but its going to take tapper some time to learn moves, got to get that hand up, foot in ground, when tapper was in college he wasnt taught
jaylon had his moments, but there is going to be some learning there, to make plays its alittle off but he hasnt played in 572 days, but when awareness comes, then they cant wash him in the play
with taco i dont think he can give u anything in pass rush but he can in against the run
but longterm jaylon can help this team, right now i would take jaylon in 4th round, but if he was healthy from notre dame, u have to take him with the 4th pick in 1st round
hillman, san diego did terrible blocking for him, has lateral quickness, change of pace guy, play lateral, got vision to come to back side, got a guy that is scheme fit for what they do, but 50/50 in catch but sometimes rivers threw the ball over his head, this is about they dont have the numbers to practice, guy veteran that can run the football
yeah dont disagree with u, marcus smith cant do anything to help this team, guy phily let go,
andy jones ur hoping their going only to keep 5 wrs, maybe their going to keep more defensive players, and happen to rb situation

dont think no news on zeke till after hall of fame game
Thanks for that recap!

I am going to go out on a limb and state Taco will be fine. In fact, I think he will a good DE and a solid rotation guy his rookie year. He has good measurables, showed continual improvement at Michigan and played against top echelon competition. He is not a "project" - you don't see reports of poor technique or bad attitude or lack of effort. Was he my first choice to draft for Dallas? No, but I don't believe he is a bad choice at all.

Man, I hope he doesn't make me look foolish.

I say "project" because we likely won't see him reach his potential this season. A year in the strength and conditioning program during the offseason will likely do wonders for his sophomore season though. Also, it would seem the only moves he uses right now are bull rush and spin move. His long arms affords him the ability to do alot more than that. Here's hoping he picks up a trick or two between now and the Giants.

That seems to be a bit of a rush judgement. That said, having watched likely all the same clips and read all the same perspectives you have, I do believe he will require some seasoning. We won't likely see him reach his potential until next year. And for rookie DE's, that's really not all that uncommon. Rare is the rookie DE that sets the world on fire from the word go.

Gottcha. I think you nailed it. I said "not a project" only to the extent that Taco has played the position and demonstrated the fundamental skills required. Thanks for your explanation.

In that sense, you are correct. He's not a project to the position. Projects to the position typically find their way to the practice squad. As the first round pick, you and I both know he is guaranteed to make the final 53. The only really question about Taco at this point is rather or not he has the work ethic to stay in the weight room and film room to get better. As a first round pick, you would hope that is something the coaches/scouts discussed with his coaches at Michigan before drafting him.

Some are forgetting that Charlton played a different defensive style in College... Much like Tapper, these were guys that played within a read & react scheme. Am I surprised they lack pass-rush moves at this level?

Absolutely not.

Let's see where the kid is in a month... And 3 months... And 6 months.

I do not know why people think Bryan Broddus is so knowledgeable. He was and is an average judge of talent. He talks like a know it all but really doesn't know anything. Look at the drafts when he was a scout.

Brian is a prefect example of a pompous blowhard!

But to dismiss is knowledge is just ignorant and to pin bad drafts on one scout who does not decide who the team actually drafts is also being ignorant. He was trained and worked under Ron Wolfe. He won a Super Bowl with the talent that he was a part of acquiring. No credit for that? There are so many know it all's on the internet it's maddening. No one who post on this forum has the experience of actually working in the NFL, but they sure do know more then him.

He is not always right as no human being is, but if I'm going to learn anything about the NFL or have to decide who opinions am going to value, hell it's going to be his over anyone on the board. Will you let a McDonald's manager manage your financial portfolio.

Here is his profession bios, what is yours?

Bryan Broaddus, owner of a Super Bowl ring and 13 years of experience in the NFL.

As Green Bay's college scouting administrator from 1992-97, Broaddus was part of the 1996 Super Bowl champion Packers. He was the first employee hired by general manager Ron Wolf for the college scouting department.

After leaving Green Bay, Broaddus was instrumental in running the 1998 NFL Draft for the Philadelphia Eagles. Four of the team's eight selections that season made the 2005 Pro Bowl. Broaddus also worked with the Jacksonville Jaguars before spending six seasons (1999-2004) as the assistant director of pro personnel with the Dallas Cowboys. Among his myriad of duties, Broaddus did advance scouting, wrote reports for free agency, built boards and notebooks for meetings with owner Jerry Jones and was involved in the Cowboys'War Room on draft day as a source of other team's needs and possible trades.

So go ahead and get pissed at me, it is what it is!

BP fired him. And he never worked for any other team again as a scout.
And what did we get from the drafts of 99-03 when BP took over? Outside of 2002 they were disasters.

He was apart of an entire scouting department that evaluates talent. Scouts do not draft!

And you so conveniently leave out his successes!

I stand by my statement....."I would learn more from him then anyone on this forum!"
