I'm hanging by a thread here, .. the Jones' have ruined the Franchise that I grew up loving.

I loved the Cowboys, .. I was proud to be a Cowboys fan, even while living in steelers country.

Now all I hear is, it is about "the brand", .. putting on a "good show", .. and the whole "entertainment experience."

Marketing, .. profit.

All stuff I couldn't care less about. It is only about "winning" for me, ... and absolutely nothing else.

The person driving this ship is not even a good sailor, .. let alone a 'Captain'.

It's like I'm hanging on to the rope with all of my being as the ship goes down, .. and the Jones' are stepping on my head and stomping on my hands.

This is one of the saddest posts I have ever read.
I honestly feel the same pain you do.

I know you're a long-time fan. Jerry told her "Don't tarnish the Star" and that's all he's proceeded to do since the early 90's Heyday.
Jerry Jones proves there is no Instant Karma.
Maybe no Karma at all...

Jerry Jones! You've made me question my faith!!! You *******!!

Whether or not the "pole dancers" are wearing more or less than the cheerleaders is not the issue WG.
It is the fact that there are "pole dancers", .. period. - Why? They are just one of the many things that look ridiculous while losing football games.

Cheerleaders are synonomous with football games, have been for a looong time.

When you go to any football game from middle school, high shcool, college or pro, .. it doesn't take long to find the cheerleaders.

But "pole dancers" have never been associated with football games, so why even go there? We all know what "pole dancers" are associated with.

When we are promoting "pole dancers", Victoria's Secret, players running through bars, the largest TV in the world, "the brand", "the show", the "entertainment experience", etc., .. all of that is foolishness when you are mediocre on the football field.

If we were winning, .. we could all just chuckle, and shake our heads at Jerry and his circus.

If it is all about marketing the circus, .. then let's stop acting like it is about winning.

If it is about winning, .. then forget that crap and let's get to winning.

I don't understand why people call them pole dancers. They are not spinning up and down poles like strippers. Or am I missing something? Those "poles" at AT&T are not poles at all, but Miller Lite platforms that they dance on. From what I can see, they're a hip hop style dance team that performs in conjunction with the drumline and break dance crew. No one seems to have any animosity toward the drummers and break dancers, but they're actually a package deal. Rhythm = Drumline, Blue = Dancers, thus the Dallas Cowboys Rhythm and Blue presented by Miller Lite. I know most of you couldn't care less, but I don't get the hostility toward the R&B Dancers.

But, it must take a great deal of time to put together all these deals, advertising, branding, Building Gigantic new Stadiums!!!!!!!

When does he have time to devote to being a GM........ohhh wait. He doesn't.........

That's why his daughter handles it. Which is what the interview is about.

I still don't see the scandal here. There are plenty of things to complain about in Cowboyland. Team branding doesn't strike me as one of them.

The daughter negotiates and oversees the construction of gigantic new stadiums??

I think KB meant that Charlotte handles team marketing/brand. That is her baby. Jerry's role in that area is overrated. The brand is important. I don't have a problem with the team focusing on more than one area. They can win and promote the brand at the same time. Everybody's just pissed that right now they are good at one and not the other.

How the heck did the Dallas Cowboys become some lame family run business? Executive positions are given out not based on ability, but based on relationship to dad and grand-dad.

This franchise is a pathetic joke. Emperors in Rome were over-thrown for less.

It's somewhat ironic when you think about it. She is doing her job so well that Jerry feels no pressure to make the necessary changes to build a winning team.

I have to ask. Have you ever been to the stadium?

the dancers are on the third level of the west end and nobody even knows they are there. I think the purpose they serve is to entertain the party pass people during pregame and after the game.

During the game I don't think I have ever even glanced over at them.

Yes..

been to the stadium.

We've had season tickets since '65 in the Cotton Bowl and then bought the bonds in Texas Stadium in Irvin and now in AT&T..

so I guess you'd have to say I've seen it all.

Been to the reserved suites as well.

I love the stadium..

..but the dancers are a little much.

That may be. And I'm all for marketing/branding....making money......etc etc

My point is. Being a GM in this league, is a full time job. It deserves to have someone dedicated to it and it alone......

This is a sickening article.

Why can't these people just go away and shut up.

What other team is constantly referred to as a brand and not a team.

These people are constantly saying brand brand brand.

All they care about is money and selling their next worst idea to the fans.

Uggh sickening.

Yet you own season tickets? I could be wrong.

Jerry does a lot of marketing for the team. It's ugly but he is the face of this current team.

The are the one of the most valuable franchises in all sports. They were bought for 160m and are now worth over 3b. They have a brand new stadium, which they own. They also have 3 Super Bowl titles and are consistently fighting for or going to the playoffs. All the children are college educated and have been with the team for decades. It's OK for the Rooneys, Maras, Irsays and others, but not the Cowboys. Your assessment is a way off.

Frustrating times?

Oh my.

You have a gift for understatement.

Hahahaha...

These times are the dark ages of the Franchise.

Fans look for a hero to lead us out of the darkness..

Tony Romo was packaged as the next great Cowboy QB but that has failed miserably.

I think when you read every post here you grasp the deep seeded disappointment and frustration of lifelong fans who all accurately point to the multitude of philosophical and operational problems the franchise has.

If you are holding out hope for a "savior" it isn't gonna happen. Tony is far from a miserable failure rather he is the by-product of all that is wrong with the organization, from drafting to coaching to offensive philosophy.

Roger isn't walking into Valley Ranch tomorrow and putting on a helmet but even if he was -- it just wouldn't matter.

I wish I had been able to see Roger play. I bet that was fun.

Funny enough Roger was a year or so ago saying Jerry needed to back off on doing so much. I am paraphrasing but he made the comment he has his hands into too much. Yep he does Roger.

Nope.

And neither is Troy Aikman walking back.

Jerrah screwed that up pretty good with how he handled Troy and forcing an end to his career.

Facts being what they are..

..our owner has just about lost the ties with the older vets from the 70s dynasty and he's disenfranchising the 90's players too.

They don't understand why Jerrah keeps making the same mistakes over and over again.

Neither do I.

I am on the fence about renewing our tickets next season or whether I should just sell them to ticket brokers and not go to the games until things improve.

We'll see.

"When I began work with the Cowboys, 23 years ago, my only instruction was 'You're in charge of the brand, and whatever you do, just don't tarnish the star.'" - Charlotte Jones-Anderson

That's Jerry Jones job
