News: BTB: Charlotte Jones-Anderson: "We Want People To Feel Like They Own A Part Of The Cowboys"

Its the Joneses tho. You know anything with Jones backing the people in this forum will find a way to troll a thread.

True. Like the supposed pole dancers? Lol Those girls are more covered up than the cheerleaders. Granted the Jones can be over the top in what they do, but that's what fans have claimed the Cowboys brand is besides winning. Bigger, better, brighter. Without the winning, some folks are annoyed by it. Cowboys start winning again, then we're celebrating it again.

As an aside.. Having been to the pro shop, that women's collection is no bigger than a bathroom. Women have better luck going online to dc.com or ladyfanatics.com.

Yup, whats th motto in texas? Everything is bigger in texas. But on this forum its a bad thing. But in real life in texas, texans take pride in that.

I don't know why all the belly aching, I'm a Cowboys fan because to watch the brand grow. Football is just secondary, I just wish the morning NFL pre game shows focused more on brand growth and entertainment of the teams. I bet if there was a Super Bowl for brand growth, we'd need several more trophy cases.

You guys act like this is new. Clint Murchinson built the Texas Stadium to be the envy of the league, but to also move his rich fans from the downtrodden area around the Cotton Bowl. He was one of the first to use luxury boxes to maximize revenue that wasn't shared and wanted PSLs to make even more money. The branding of the Cowboys also included playing in the annual Thanksgiving game to gain a National following. The iconic "hole in the roof" to let God watch the Cowboys was a structural mistake that was turned into selling point for the team. Then came the Super Bowls and the "America's Team" moniker. Jerry Jones got his rings early in his tenure and it may have spoiled him, but to act like he is different than any other owner when it comes to making money is silly. He is just better at it than most.

Yep. It's like that in real life. I've got friends and family members who have some of the same gripes on this forum, but let me have tickets to the game. They're lining up to see who I want to take. They want to see the stadium and experience the game in person.

The difference is that Murchison let Tex Schramm, Gil Brandt and Tom Landry handle the football side of things. Jerry thinks he can do it all, when it's painfully obvious he can't.

I have no problem with it. Brand away. I dig it. It NEEDS to be done........and Jerry and his family are awesome at it,,.,,just outstanding!!!!!

But, it must take a great deal of time to put together all these deals, advertising, branding, Building Gigantic new Stadiums!!!!!!!

When does he have time to devote to being a GM........ohhh wait. He doesn't.........

Exactly. Ive been to plenty of games at the old stadium and Ive been to games in ca when Cowboys come. And it dont matter where you are. The Cowboys brand is everywhere. I want to go to the new stadium, just cant fit it in right now. People act like the cowboys pay so much more attention to selling this team. Like CJA says you dont really have to sell the brand. The cowboys sell themselves.

Frustrating times?

Oh my.

You have a gift for understatement.

Hahahaha...

These times are the dark ages of the Franchise.

Fans look for a hero to lead us out of the darkness..

Tony Romo was packaged as the next great Cowboy QB but that has failed miserably.

Management had nothing to do with the moniker.

Jerry has just leveraged things his predecessors and associates created, and he's done so in an era of explosive league-wide growth. The people before him benefited from the great teams that they built and rebuilt. Jerry only benefits and cultivates a brand or the "Cowboy lifestyle" that is associated with teams that have little or nothing to do with his influence. It won't last forever, because he is incapable of building a winner on his own.

Infuriating?

Oh yeah.

Its just mind bending how Jones and his family have reduced this team to a 3 ring circus.

And they now openly refers to their 'product' as good entertainment..

I maybe wrong..but I think the fans are not so interested in pretty art sculpture and water reflective pools..

they are more about winning.

Interesting all this talk from them about the brand and the show and all the bells & whistles at the stadium.

You have old players giving interviews about the miserable state of the team & the Jones family talking about how grand the brand is.

Totally disagree, especially when it comes to the NFL. Buffalo always sells a lot of tickets, Cleveland has a national following, KC is always a tough place to play...etc. NFL is a superior product, regardless of the specific team you follow.

Plus, The fact that more people are watching the NFL now, when the product is worse than it has been in a long time, makes that point pretty clear to me.

I wasn't talking about the NFL as a whole. In my mind, that is the "Brand", not the company. And if I follow, you would argue that if the Cowboys, or any of those other teams you mention starting competing every year like the Patriots, they (i.e. the company) would not be more successful financially, or at least would not have the opportunity to be?

Whether or not the "pole dancers" are wearing more or less than the cheerleaders is not the issue WG.
It is the fact that there are "pole dancers", .. period. - Why? They are just one of the many things that look ridiculous while losing football games.

Cheerleaders are synonomous with football games, have been for a looong time.

When you go to any football game from middle school, high shcool, college or pro, .. it doesn't take long to find the cheerleaders.

But "pole dancers" have never been associated with football games, so why even go there? We all know what "pole dancers" are associated with.

When we are promoting "pole dancers", Victoria's Secret, players running through bars, the largest TV in the world, "the brand", "the show", the "entertainment experience", etc., .. all of that is foolishness when you are mediocre on the football field.

If we were winning, .. we could all just chuckle, and shake our heads at Jerry and his circus.

If it is all about marketing the circus, .. then let's stop acting like it is about winning.

If it is about winning, .. then forget that crap and let's get to winning.

Yes that was her idea. She did all the interviews for it and made it out like it was a big deal. It was embarrassing as a fan. Monday night football at home against the bears and this is what they were worried about.

They took away half the entrance walkway on the west side if the stadium two years ago so they could put in rides, a zip line and games for kids.....insanity.

And the sad part is the league is so impressed with Charlotte they have her on a league wide committee now.

sporting events are entertainment. I went to a baseball game in SF a couple of years ago, there are kids play areas in the outfield, at a hockey game in Montreal they have shooting boxes and pictures with the mascot

It is the way it is

Come again?

"I think he knows what Rome is. Rome is the mob. Conjure magic for them and they'll be distracted. Take away their freedom and still they'll roar. The beating heart of Rome is not the marble of the senate, it's the sand of the coliseum. He'll bring them death - and they will love him for it." -- Gladiator (2000 movie)

Jerry = emperor & average Cowboys game attendee = mob.

I realize folks here are loath to bring up the ESPN crew's comments, but Tom Jackson made me think about the comments on this thread in something he said 3 years ago, referencing a MNF game at then new Cowboys Stadium. To wit, he said something about the Cowboys playing in "...that shopping mall/bar they call a football stadium". There was derision in his comment. There are many NFL fans who like the trend in flashing LED ribbon boards, gigantic video screens, loud pulsing music, even pole dancers and sushi served at your seat. Im just old fashioned. Give me the game, no frills. But that isnt the NFL the Jones family wants to deliver. It's the Hunger Games on Steroids. It's the show.
I keep hearing a ne'er do well NFL coach muttering over and over "You plaaaaaay to wiiiiiin the game"
