Some quick observations from the rookie mini-camp.
The Cowboys first practice of rookie mini-camp is in the books. Of course, as Joey Ickes pointed out earlier today, there some things that really matter at this camp, and some that don't. But where guys line up is one of them, and today Zack Martin lined up at right guard. Based on that, it looks like the Cowboys want Mackenzy Bernadeau to become their backup guard and possibly the backup center. They might switch it up later and have Martin play some of the left guard in Ron Leary's spot, but Jason Garrett said Martin looks like a natural fit at right guard.
Ben Gardner started out at left defensive end, Davon Coleman was the 3-tech while Ken Bishop was lined up as a 1-tech.
Also, from Bryan Broaddus we get some more observations.
Devin Street - There is a real smoothness to his game and you can see that with his ability to run routes. He was one of those kids during the drafting process that really stood out when it came to where he was willing to take his route and the ability to finish them.
Ben Malena - A running back that showed some nice quickness and hands in the Team Run and the 7-on-7 drills was, Ben Malena out of Texas A&M. This player has some juice in the way he plays.
Other tweets and observations:
Broaddus thought Coleman looked very quick off the snap.
Devin Street showed up a lot today. Obviously no pads, but encouraging

Safety Ahamad Dixon was held out of practice due to injury.
The former Baylor safety, who signed his deal with the Cowboys on Friday, is dealing with an injured hip that first bothered him at the Senior Bowl and flared back up Thursday.
"Trainers wanted to keep me out just so I wouldn't do anything worse to it," Dixon said. "I had tweaked it a little bit at the Senior Bowl and I've been resting it. Yesterday it started hurting again. It's just a little sore, nothing serious, just want to be very cautious of it."
