It's funny the concern over replacing Gregory's production has created. Gregory had a few excellent games last season but he's played in 50 games and produced 16.5 career stats. That equates to 6 sacks a season. Fowler has played in 90 games and produced 35 career sacks, 6.5 over a season. Not to say Fowler is better than Gregory at this point, but when factoring in Williams and a returning Armstrong it feels like the DE unit has a solid chance at being better than last season.

I'm not expecting a huge season from any of the above guys individually, but if they each get 4-6 sacks a piece it would be a productive rotation.

Hopefully Fowler is not washed up.
We also lost a good LB, who's production has to be replaced as well.

During that four year stretch of single digit sacks, Quinn was hurt for the first two seasons and only played in half of those games.

In the 3rd season he got 8.5 sacks, not a bad year. Then he ended up playing the 4th season with the worse defense in the league that year, the Dolphins.

Quinn revived his own career, but it didn't hurt that Lawrence was on the other side absorbing a lot of "attention".

Would be great, but thats not Fowlers expectation, nothing wrong with decent depth though, have no problem with Fowler playing that role, all teams need that.

DL, unlike OL, are not all or nothing because even players that would not be great starters can be significant contributors in a rotation.

i.e. Jimmie Jones type players.

The Dallas Cowboys have benefited recently by reviving the careers of struggling edge rushers. Robert Quinn and Randy Gregory both experienced turnarounds with the star on their helmets.

When Dallas signed Quinn in 2019, he had four consecutive seasons of single-digit sacks. Quinn then went on to post 11.5 sacks for the Cowboys along with two forced fumbles.

The Cowboys are now looking for a resurgence out of defensive end Dante Fowler, the likely No. 2 edge rusher opposite of Demarcus Lawrence. The Cowboys signed Fowler to a one-year, $1.5 million dollar deal in March.

Nah, I don't agree with this writer's "opinion" one bit.

Fowler, Jr. was signed for 1 year for one reason only: to give whomever the Cowboys drafted at DE early in the 2022 Draft enough time to get used to the game in the NFL. The Cowboys actually got lucky to get Sam Williams so late in the 2nd round.

Just watch. Sam Williams is going to pull a Micah Parsons, and everyone is going to forget about Fowler, Jr.
