If you believe that Murray was an important part of the success along with the line and passing game, then I'm with you. If you believe the line made Murray, then the same can be said of plenty of other backs who have been considered good to great in their time.

It seemed to me that you were trying to diminish Murray's efforts, when he was a very good back throughout his four years here (when healthy). The numbers show it no matter who was blocking for him.

Can the other backs we have be similarly good in this offense? That we don't know.

i said it was a team effort. it's absolutely impossible to say what murray would or would not have done the next year. i can't say it, you can't say it, no one can. but the FACT is that murray only had one hell of a year in his contract year and yes, that has always raised a flag to me. i take nothing away from what he did or what he meant to our team last year.

but i refuse to believe he and only he could run behind this line in a successful manner.

I don't disagree that others could have success behind this line. The only thing I've ever disagreed with is that ANYONE could have success behind this line, which seems to be what some are buying into. The players we have to replace him fall closer to the anyone category to me than others who could have success, but we'll see on that. I could be wrong about them.

I do disagree with you on saying Murray only had one big year. He has twice rushed for better averages with Dallas than he had last year, and more than 5 yards per carry. He has never rushed for less than 4.1 YPC. Now, he picked a good time to be healthy for all 16 games, but even in 2013 he rushed for more than 1,000 yards and a 5.2 average in 14 games, which led Dallas to start talking about focusing more on the running game last year. If they had handed him the ball more in 2013 (which they should have), then we'd probably be talking about the two great years he had instead of just dismissing a 1,121-yard season (on 217 carries). It seems he gets no credit around here for that one because many are looking to give all the credit to a line that wasn't completed then.

I think the point being argued is not that Murray is the ONLY RB that can run behind this oline, but can ANY RB run behind this oline?

That is the debate..............many think McFadden and Randle are jags and fall into the "any RB will do" category. Some think we need an established back with some pedigree to him. For example, Chis Johnson's career numbers dwarf anything McFadden and Randle have ever done, that is why some think he would be a better alternative.

Of course the Ravens take advantage of the May12th rule and sign Kyle Arrington to a 3yr deal
