He has more presence than those guys. Maybe its because we just got finished seeing Moore suck it up, who knows.

We are talking about a backup QB here who might never play even if he is #2 so if he had a career like Jay Cutler, I'm sure he would be happy about it.
Tanney is still playing in Tennessee, and Vaughn is in Baltimore.

You can "backup QB" your way in this league for a decade without hardly throwing a pass.

Well I don't get the feeling Dak will miss many games (knock on wood) just cause of the way he is built.

Alot of times he appears to not even pay attention to when he is hit, like it bounces off him. We can argue all day about the backup, but hopefully we won't see him.
We won't. Dak is dang close to being a generational-type player. We'll know more about that after this season ending in a Cowboys Super Bowl win in Minny.

*gasp* A prediction was just made. Book it!

Is Cooper Rush ready to look at a defense, recognize the scheme and blitz, audible out of a bad play call, re-adjust receiver routes, and execute the play in less than 10 seconds at the line of scrimmage?

Moore can do all of that....and then throws a pick.

Question...

There's a lot more to playing quarterback in the NFL than just throwing pretty passes in an organized scrimmage against scrubs.

He is just as ready as Dak was at this point in their careers. And besides, doing all that stuff is great and something that Moore can do.. but when every team can play 11 guys within 10 yards of the LOS because that is as far as he can throw, it becomes a problem.

I don't know why everyone is getting their panties in a wad over this. There are two more games. Kellen and Cooper are both going to get about 3 more quarters of action a piece most likely. Hell, Cooper might get the entire game 5 for all we know.

To play devils advocate, Cooper has only played about a game's worth of snaps so far. Just because he had a good 4 quarters of play doesn't mean he is a viable #2.

Let's see some more. If he continues to shine, he'll win a roster spot.

Probably not.

That would typically take NFL experience.

Not many here are claiming Rush is the next big thing. I believe most of his hype is based on how bad Moore has looked...and how Moore has done nothing in his career to warrant a backup spot on a team with serious playoff aspirations.

While this is true, the real question is do you trust him to run your offense during regular season games right now? I clearly understand Moore's limitations, but at least his experience can buy us 2-3 games. IMO Cooper Rush is not ready for NFL primary backup and Garrett is no where close to elevating him.......he's waaay to conservative to make such bold move. Besides, remember Moore is Linehan boy and I get the impression nothing happens with him w/o his blessings.........I expect Rush to end up on the PS

I'd like to see us do what GB during the Farve years. Draft develop and trade for assets. Ty Detmer, Matt Flynn, Mark Brunnell, Aaron Brooks, Matt Hasselbeck, Doug Petersen. Not bad.

Rush will not make the PS.

Why not? What has he done to suggest he can be trusted as another team's back-up ( most teams only carry 2 QBs during the regular season) Take look at Colts rookie free agent from Miami Stephen Morris stats from the Colts game. He lit up our 3rd and 4th stringers up but seriously anyone is suggesting he's ready to be Luck's backup. To be clear, I'm not down on Rush-he's played damn good in a very generic environment-but to cut Moore and suggest he's ready to our primary backup is a bit of a reach IMO. I know there are fans wondering well how do keep him? Even if he's picked up by another team, he'll likely end up on their PS coz we know NO team is going to deem him ready for primary duty.

Well Dak didn't do all that last year til towards the end of the season. It was shocking for me to see him doing all that, I even said in chat, 'why is Dak talking so much all of a sudden?'

They would treat Rush just like they treated Dak.

?

He was doing it in preseason, Freeze

You really have this complex (for lack of a better term) that backups don't matter, E.

Why? They do.

Our "painties are in a wad" (I wear thongs, myself) because Moore is horrendous, and always has been.

We need a legit backup, brother. Have needed one ever since Orton left (not counting Dak, obviously).

They really didn't give him the keys to the offense til later in the season in my opinion.

He was more of running the plays that were called earlier, but later he was doing what he does now.
