All of those things can be taught. What cannot be taught: arm strength, accuracy, and pocket presence. Moore lacks those and will never improve.

The gameplan for Moore is easy: bring the S down and blitz the A and B gaps. He melts down under pressure and run blitzing prevents OL from getting to the second level limiting gains in the run game.

Rush has a shot as the season progresses of improving to the point where he can read defenses to the point of stringing together wins. Moore has not won a game in the NFL. When Laufenberg was claiming he was a winner I wanted to reach through the TV and punch him.
Im not sure who we typically have do it ( I know Orton used to) but I think Rush would gain alot running the scout team during the season

The only QB not on an NFL roster I can see as a #2 alternative is Shaun Hill. And while not participating in any offense installation, how much of an option is he really

I think it depends on the matchup. They would have Showers do it when we played TB, GB, SEA, and other mobile quarterbacks.

Dak is well built and young. He does not run very often for as mobile as he is. He doesn't hold onto the ball. He plays behind a top OL with a dedicated running game. It's the NFL but as injury risks go he is at the very low end.

Moore is turnover prone and inefficient on offense. He doesn't score TDs. He is undersized and he is not going to improve. He is what he is.

Rush is literally the opposite on those counts. I get that in the preseason we are not going to learn if he can read defenses when they are disguised and rotated but that does not mean he cannot.

For all the talk of Moore's ability to read defenses he turns the ball over a lot. He's been good for one every quarter against these vanilla defenses.

If we are going to have a poor backup I will take the one with upside each and every time.

I would rather go with Rush and see his upside. It's not like he melts down under pressure and he does not turn the ball over.

I think at this stage in the season, you pretty much have to go with what you have. With Rush you could pull a couple wins out of your *** if he had to play a few games. Everyone knows what Kellen Moore CANT do. If we lose Prescott for a prolonged period of time our season is sunk anyways. May as well get a see if you have a long term backup in Rush, or better yet turn him into a legit trade asset

With Moore the trajectory of his passes make anything beyond 15 yards a potential turnover. He has never been nor will he ever be an NFL QB. I give him credit for lasting as long as he did whereas similar QB's were banished to the CFL and Arena league. However he is what he is in the NFL, the fringiest of fringe #3 QB's
