BTB: The Dallas Cowboys Would Be Fools to Release Romo

Really? Are you his accountant now too?

That huge house he just built didn't come for free.

If you think he's going to pay back $5 million for the right to walk away from $54 million, you're crazy.

(Sigh), he doesn't have $54 million waiting for him. Do you not understand guaranteed versus not guaranteed?

He's likely going to be released, then he's going to seek a new deal.

That was evident against Philadelphia, as soon as Philly backed off and didn't dare blitz Romo and he still picked them apart.. And he was throwing darts up-field that were twenty times as fast as Dak, 'injured back' and 'fragile' health and all.

Of course, Dak-homers will say Dak had nothing to play for, but none of that was true considering Dallas didn't start Zeke, but kept Dak in and he played multiple series against Philly who brought the house and Dak couldn't move the ball..

Dak is a good QB, but the reality is, Zeke has made life easy for Dak...

That's why I want to hang on to Romo so badly.

The other shoe is going to drop on Dak soon. He is a very promising player, but he has eons to go before he can play this game at an elite level.

If he falters, Romo could pick up the offense in a nanosecond. If, that is, he can take a hit.

Better than you do apparently. If he fulfills his current contract, here or anywhere, that's what he's due to be paid, "guaranteed" or otherwise. And it's a lot more plausible than your temper tantrum nonsense of a threatened retirement and not only having to pay back $5 million in unearned bonus money, but walking away from that $54 million.

Sigh.

Sure thing Jerry...

I don't have the energy or the interest in explaining this to you any further.

Some would suggest he already has.

Yeah, pretty much everybody other than Romo's biggest cheerleader.

Please don't. Your "explanations" are terrible.

Your Romo fixation is embarrassing.

And your football knowledge is on par with me when I was eight years old.

Back to ignore you go.

Ooh, I am so hurt!

Funny that you'll accuse someone else of being "eight years old" and yet run to hit the "Ignore" button yourself when someone disagrees with you and points out the gaping holes in logic of what you suggest.

I love it when people announce they're "going to ignore you". Just do it. It's what I do.

No offense, Erod.

Because they need the attention.

I love it when they accuse you of being immature and yet it's they who need to resort to Ignoring someone because they can't handle a difference of opinion.

Ignorance at its finest.

Yeah, personally for me (and I know this is a bit OT), the ignore feature is best used on the few unruly bunch of our site. There's about 4-5 of them (imo). The ignore feature for the sake of bowing out of an arguement I never understand, Stash, my brudda.

I find it to be a weakness of anyone that has to use it. If you can't handle someone disagreeing with you, that's on you, as long as forum rules aren't broken.

Forget falters..

Best player should play and he should have last year, as soon as he was healthy. If he did, we could have avoided this nonsense, while Dak sat and learned and Romo could have played out his contract here, with talent finally around him. They already found out what they needed long-term for Dak, but the Super Bowl is the priority now.

If Romo got injured again, then Dak could come in irrespective. He can still come in...

ok, so here is another issue I have with a release....I live in Eagles territory...if Dallas just cuts him, and then he goes somewhere for ZERO compensation to the Cowboys, then I have ZERO points to argue back with these eagles idiots....

....trying to be patient....

My favorite points in the article. The Tuna is not always right, but he is spot on in this instance:

The Cowboys are in the talent acquisition business, not the talent giveaway business

"I’d try not to release [Tony Romo],” said former Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells when ask about how he’d handle the current Romo situation in Dallas during a recent interview on ESPNLA 710 AM. “He does represent value. And getting something is always better than getting nothing. Now, I’m sure Jerry Jones owes a debt of gratitude to Tony and that’s all well and good. But he represents an asset to the organization. I would just not give that away for nothing.”

There are only a couple of posters that I have on ignore just because they irritate me so much just seeing a post by them....hello ufc and Gimme:muttley:
But I'm fine with those that disagree; it is an open forum after all.

Anyway, the extremely rare us of that option has made my experience on CBZ so much better.

Well, I think anyone with even marginal football IQ would realize it based on his injury history and age, not remotely how good he is when healthy.
But then again, they are Eagles fans
