BTB: The Dallas Cowboys Would Be Fools to Release Romo

My favorite points in the article. The Tuna is not always right, but he is spot on in this instance:

The Cowboys are in the talent acquisition business, not the talent giveaway business

"I’d try not to release [Tony Romo],” said former Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells when ask about how he’d handle the current Romo situation in Dallas during a recent interview on ESPNLA 710 AM. “He does represent value. And getting something is always better than getting nothing. Now, I’m sure Jerry Jones owes a debt of gratitude to Tony and that’s all well and good. But he represents an asset to the organization. I would just not give that away for nothing.”
And why Jerry will probably hang on to Romo if there is no interest in a trade. There's more likely going to be interest during training camp or preseason when an injury incurs on a team who feels they are a QB away from contending or their injured QB prevents them from contending.

The Jerry "DoRight" rule will not allow that scenario to play out. Tony is going to be given an opportunity to play for a team he likes this year.

I agree that scenario is the goal initially but if a team Romo is interested in doesn't make a trade offer your suggesting Jerry will simply release Romo without any compensation to pursue a team with a new contract also meaning Romo will make much less than what he would here ?

Yes, that is what I'm saying and if Tony is released he will abide by the "DoRight" rule and not sign a new deal with a division rival. Go back and listen to Jerry's bus hour and listen close. Those are the terms of the "DoRight" and both guys have signed on.

I agree with the title. You still taking a hit letting him go. How about Dak get hurt the first preseason game on the first play for the whole season, then what?, you telling me we have to be in another situation to depend on a Veteran in Josh McCown that is over the hill? Cowboys need some serious help.

Has it occurred to some of you if Romo was worth anything in a QB starved league we have a pick now and he'd b gone.
No right.
He's still all pro caliber, yet we can't get a 5th.
Lol

People are scared of his age and injuries.....people want him but not enough to trade a pick.

I'd Dak gets hurt then Romo would get hurt right behind him lol.
