It's never meaningless looking back at a teams drafting history. The more things have changed over the years the more things have remained the same at the CB position. Not even Jones looked very good at corner this season giving up some big plays but he looked solid at safety and that appears to be his position.

Let's stick with the topic and leave the past FO out of the thread. We've drafted reasonably well lately and we'll leave it at that.

I like the player but probably out of the top fifteen at least. That's just an opinion. It is not unreasonable, IMO, for anyone to think differently. I'd stick to QB, LOT, special WRs, pass rushers and DTs this high but that's just me.

Funny thing is, he's not even the hands down best corner. He has a reputation for being pretty good, but nobody is talking about Ramsey like he is some sort of elite Revis-type that can take away his man. Some think he might be a good safety, but he has never proven to be elite there either.

How on earth does that make for the fifth best player in the draft?

It is like they are recruiting him out of high school. Good "athlete" but not really sure what to do with him.

How many INTs does he have?

Three in three seasons. He does tackle and cover well though but I would be upset taking him at #4.

Exactly how I feel. We need to look at players who are playmakers although I can't say I'm ever disappointed with a player who defends the pass well.

Resign Claiborne. Move Jones to FS. Draft a SS and a CB in the mid rounds. Sign a veteran CB. Improve the front 7.

I really want to clean house of our vets, Mo & Carr, and sign a high profile, proven CB, like Janoris Jenkins. Then, draft another in 2-3 round.

Cowboys just forced the fewest turnovers in the entire history of the NFL. Worst team out of upwards of close to 1200 teams.

Color me excited about drafting another DB who isn't much of a playmaker.

I changed my mind.

I want him.

He would fit right in with our allergic to turnovers situation we have right now.

I also voted for consistency in the defensive backfield. At least he would be interchangeable with the other CBs!

Your question doesn't make sense. Being a potential lockdown corner or do everything safety...both...probably adds to his appeal...not detract from it.

You make it sound like versatility is a curse.

Mo was supposed to be a lock down corner.

They don't let corners play anymore.

No real sense in taking one that high.

No matter how good you are you're going to get beat up in today's NFL

The Cowboys have had miserable luck drafting CBs. Since they drafted Kevin Smith in 92 they've only come of with one solid corner in the draft since Terence Newman in 03. There's been a string of busts at that position from Dwyane Goodrich to Morris Claiborne. Several years ago the team drafted 3 CBs and none of them panned out.

Yeah.... They've had worst drafting QB's

I like Ramsey as a free safety but Byron Jones looks like he will be moved there. I guess we could go with two versatile safeties in Ramsey and Jones, which does make some sense with today's multiple WR sets and athletic/match-up problem TE's.

I'd rather attack the CB position in free agency with a physical guy like Trumaine Johnson or Casey Heyward AND then a nickel guy like Brandon Boykin.

No matter what, I would move on from Carr, Church, and Claiborne. Stop overpaying mediocrity; bring in new blood.

The Cowboys haven't drafted many QBs but they've drafted a number of CBs and have missed on most of them. Doubt you'll find a position where they've had worst luck at drafting than at CB. Two of the biggest busts in franchise history came at CB Dwayne Goodrich and Mo Claiborne. One of the biggest busts during the Landry regime was Rod Hill.

Keeping hearing questions from you, but seeing zero to support your case.

Where is your "extensive scouting", sport?

Exactly why I use words like "if he is BPA then take him."

Do you know what the word "if" means?
