Gets a contract, then loses his starting job to Kwon Alexander, must be fresh and ready to go.

The problem with Carter is the same as it's been his entire career: he takes more than one season to acclimate himself to a defensive scheme and be effective. The first year in a system he doesn't trust his knowledge of the scheme enough to stop thinking and just play. Once he gets comfortable he's pretty damned effective. That said, I would consider him for a cap friendly deal. He's already familiar with our scheme and a full off-season back in the program should get him right back to speed.

He'd be a depth signing, at best, but I wouldn't hate it.

Losing your job to Kwon Alexander doesn't mean you are a bad player. Sign him and have him replace wilbur.

Not sure what y'all are talking about. I know folks like to convince themselves a player is no longer any good because he joined some other team. Carter is better than a vet. min., depth only guy. Bring him on back.

Yep. The Durant contract was stooped. The Carter contract given by the Bucs was even worse. The Bucs have been especially bad at free agency.

Yeah, I think we all knew that they were mistakes as soon as we saw them. Although it was a lot more palatable watching other teams making them.

Carter is young enough that it might make some sense to bring him back. I think Durant is a good veteran but the injuries are too frequent.
