I have not seen a better blue print for building a complete team since the Landry days. It's about time, it's all about the trenches, and it has certainly been addressed, a little work left on the defensive side, but this feels good. Facemask to facemask is finally right. Smash mouth equals championship, opens the receiver game, it's coming.

Can't have first round picks everywhere but we have invested heavily into the trenches. Add another top talent or two to the DL we will get there. We are also creating depth and have our future at LE with D law but guys like Irving, Russell and Tapper will be quality depth/rotation guys

Sounds good to me as long as the FO and the staff (including the scouts) find a way to draft a tad more effectively. Hopefully, some DEs and LBs that show themselves to be well-conceived acquisitions will put us in a good place to improve on defense. Yep, ya gotta love that OL, though.

We are doing it better than Jimmy and his dynasty, apparently.

So stoked.

You are not going to be popular around here with a certain group. They call themselves The Realists. Please be careful. They are extremly sensitive and easily upset. They tend to lash out with attacks on your knowledge about football with repetitive sarcasm.

The good news is many of us agree that things are looking up. Even better, when we win you don't hear much from them. So this will be a good season in more ways than one.

Since the Landry days?

Wut?

I am not sure they are sensitive and easily upset.

I think the better term is amused.

As opposed to the 'check your brain at the door', 'just hand over your money to Jerry' crowd. You must be so proud.

When your defense has obvious, huge needs and you use your first two picks on a running back and a linebacker who won't play this year?

Sorry, I'm not seeing what you're seeing. But hope springs eternal I guess.

Love the smash mouth and the trenches. Maybe in another 5 years we will have a complete team with the way we hit on our 1st round picks and not much else drafting history. But wait, then guys like Romo, witten, Dez, will be history and we will have to replace them. Maybe another 5 years after that.

:lmao:

I think at the end of the day, this is one of my big motivators. I dont want to be made a fool by believing in the salesman nonsense that Jerry spits out all the time. To listen to Jerry you would think this team is always one player away from winning it all. Every player is doing great.

Its almost like clockwork. Whenever Jerry rants about some ridiculously positive BS you always get the crowd coming on here and parroting what he says into a thread. I guess it works on some people.

A fool and his money...

No, it's intelligence and the ability to recognize what's happening with the Cowboys. Your hate first attitude prevents you from being able to do that.

Stash and his crew show up right on time. They must be miserable in their daily lives to because they
can't find anything to be positive about with this team. Oh well, different strokes for different folks.
I do wish they would spend some time spouting their schtick over at the Deadskins board for awhile!

And there's the usual appearance, to attack anyone who doesn't think the same way, add absolutely nothing of value to the topic, and then cut and run.

If you had any of the "intelligence" you speak of, you'd know which side 'fired the first shot' here. It's par for the course. The homers are always the first to antagonize someone else for not thinking the way they do, and buying anything and everything this team feeds them, hook, line, and sinker.

Do your homework for once and find out who it was who actually 'fired the first shot' here. Or again, see what you want to see, rather than what truly is.

Here's my unintelligent view of the Cowboys.

The front office gets credit for recognizing one problem they had - the OL - and addressing it. Some may say they have invested too many resources in the OL at the expense of other needs, but I tend to think you can never invest too much into the OL (well to an extent, LOL).

However, I think they've struggled drafting and building the defense. They've had some big misses - Claiborne - and have taken on a few risks (Gregory) that haven't panned out and could potentially pan out (Smith). After being burned by high price free agents, they seem to have gone to the opposite extreme and just looked for bargain bin guys and the like to fill a defense full of holes. Sure, they've done some smart things recently. Signing Thornton and dumping Hayden was a great move. I loved the Tapper pick. I think putting Jones at FS is a smart move. But here we are, 2016 season upon us, and we still have a ton of questions on defense. Arguably the biggest problem this defense had has been getting to the QB. And yet people are surprised fans might question that our pass rush has gotten significantly better (and it needs to be significantly better IMO to be a real threat in this conference) because we added a 4th round DE (who I like mind you), a cast off from the Raiders with like 2 career sacks, a guy from our practice squad, a few other bodies and are hoping our pot smoking 2nd rounder from last year will suddenly find himself after 4 games?

The "reality" (or unintelligent and inability to see things point of view, I guess) is that this defense could very well be mediocre to poor next year and be the Achilles heel of this team.

So the best way to put it right now is that the team has done some great things in personnel moves, done some bad things in the personnel department and the end result is a team that could easily be 6-10 as much as it could be 11-5. That's where we are. If that hurts people's sensibilities, then by all means, just assume I am stupid and don't understand football.

Put away the anointing oil until the real bullets start flying. All 32 teams are 0-0 today. Every team is enthusiastic about the upcoming season, all and each one of them.

So one is only intelligent thinking if they see that the Cowboys are building something really great right now?

That's the entire M.O. Checks in only to attack anyone not towing the company line on everything Cowboys, never actually talking about any of the points being made in the thread.
