Said he'd wear #99, FWIW.
i think if they keep letting all the free agents go their d will not be as good. they need to keep some of these players

Didn't he say around the time he was drafted that he hated the Cowboys since childhood?

Yep. Filthy Niner-fan. It look me a long time to warm to Burnett b/c of that, but I ended up liking him. I'm afraid we're going to miss him in coverage.

If he could have stayed healthy, he would have already been re signed in Big D IMO. Just too fragile...onward and upward hopefully........

At least we still have Booby

Didn't take long to bag on him. But yes we do still have him. So now maybe the coaching staff will stop screwing with his position and give him a chance.

Even though I wish we could have kept Burnett. Well, I will bag on him. He had 4 years to prove himself and had many chances to break into the starting line up. Yes, he had injuries, and quite a few, so he may be considered injury prone. So why don't people bag on Burnett?

Merriman, Phillips & Burnett is a decent LB corps. Not sure which ILB spot he'd take. Probably WILB since their SILB Cooper was the 2nd leading tackler on the team.

1. That "LB Corps" will probably only be on the field together for about 4 or 5 games.

2. Burnett is soft. The dude isn't starter material. He's the worst LB of that "Corps" if he even gets the starting job.

Don't see how people think he's worth a crap. If he were, he'd have been resigned and Brooking would still be unemployed.

Yeah, there's a lot of truth there.

Even the guy that drafted him didn't seem interested.

He's a good fit there. If he can stay on the field he can make an impact.

Of course, I cursed and spit when we took him over Khalif Barnes. (and likely would again)

He will not last 8 games as a starter. He is built too tight and will be injured. A good player though.

Kevin Burnett has agreed to a deal with the San Diego Chargers. Details to come soon.

Update:

Burnett agreed to a two-year contract with San Diego. Burnett's deal is worth $5.5 million with a $2 million signing bonus. Burnett's base salaries are guaranteed whether or not he gets injured or released. So, he receives about $4 million in guaranteed money. Burnett's agent Ricky Lefft said the Cowboys made a late play for the linebacker but the financial package wasn't good enough.

Oakland, San Francisco, Tennessee Houston and Green Bay had expressed interest in Burnett, who finished second on the team in special teams tackles with 19. Burnett, as the third down linebacker, had 38 total tackles, two sacks, four quarterback pressures and three passes defended.

I thought Burnett was a pretty good play-maker in space, and in coverage. Bottom line is, you can't keep everybody.

yeah but you should at least keep the people who produce and make plays instead of the bottom feeders on the roster.

We've already gotten rid of big time producers on this team. At this point, Jerry just does not care.

Can't believe Dallas wasn't offering that much.

Ditto...

It's disappointing, imo. Plus, it might come back to bite you in the rear end. Hey, you can't win them all.

Keith Brooking for Kevin Burnett?
