I wish they would have put him in when Ware was gassed.

Burnett is our best coverage LB, and teams are spreading us out, not surprising that he's getting more playing time

I think we may be witnessing Burnett taking over for Ayodele who only has 33 tackles as starter all season. But Burnett like the Barbarion get relegated because they are so good at 3rd down and coverage. Burnett just makes our defense faster and nastier.

He also can get to the QB.... if used that way some.

Witnessing him taking over for Akin? Has he played in the base defense at all this season?

I'm not sure he'll ever be a 3 down ILB in the 3-4.

maybe down the road, Donnie Edwards was playing heck of a 3-4 inside LB at 228 for Wade

you just don't like unassuming, yet solid players at LB do you Nors?

Ayodele is doing #51 proud this season. Same cat.

I want difference makers and impact players. Not average and older vets that are overpaid and really kinda blend into backdrop and just never stand out.

Burnett has so much upside - time to play him. I have it somewhere on the net that Burnett would be starting by season end. PLAY YOUR BEST 11.

Very true, and Larry Foote does it in Pitt at 6'1" 239

we are playing our best 11, Wade's philosophy is to stop the run 1st, that's why Akin is starting and Burnett comes in on passing situations

Bingo - Wade covets more speed and shooting gaps than Parcells did. Edwards and Burnett are identical. Parcells was mad he couldn't puff Burnett up to 240+.

Phillips wants a LB that can run, cover and attack. Ayodele is actually a Parcells LB moreso than a Phillips LBer - JMO

Burnett is seeing a lot more field of recent, and his production reflects last 3 games. Change is in motion there - JMO

Yeah, I know other guys have done it at his weight, but he just looks really bad against the run.

I can see that argument as well. I just think Burnett needs to be a 3 down backer sooner than later.

Yeah, that's the problem. If we could keep him in his current role from now til eternity, that'd be great.

Does Edwards get hurt every other week?

Based on what? Akin is in on run downs mostly as starter?

The amount of time that Burnett sees the field is purely dependent upon what the offense dictates. It has nothing to do with which player is playing better. They're in the game for two completely different things.

Based on seeing him play against the run.
