Burnt Carr

I never understood the infatuation with Carr from the fans to begin with, the guy wasn't even the best corner on his team and he comes here and gets a 50 million dollar contract. There was a reason the Chiefs let him walk without putting up much of a fight. He's solid but he's nothing special.

His stats did the talking. If you looked at KC forums they were livid about how they let Carr go.

They're probably going to let their best WR (Bowe) walk at the end of the season. Will that mean that he's not that good? Often times a teams overall needs supersedes a particular position. Keep in mind that there wasn't a lot worthy FA options at CB this past off season and the Cowboys needed an upgrade desperately. I think you're underestimating his play.

Yea I guess any cornerbacks stats would look good by having to face Carson Palmer and Tim Tebow 4 times out of the year. Case and point, look at Namdi Asomugua, when he played in the AFC West he was looked at as a shut down corner, and when he came to the NFC East, he's been about as average as a corner as you could get.

I like Brandon Carr.

Is he overpaid for the type of player he is? Yes IMO. The market value at that position is just unreal though.

I also expect him to get beat from time to time. The rules of today just don't allow for anyone to be a true shutdown guy.

Overall he is not a worry IMO.

Ditto this.

I guess the replacement refs also did all of Kansas City's games last year too, then.

My comment is referencing the COMPARATIVE fall off between Carr's earlier and later games this year. Your introduction of his play with KC last year is not relative to this discussion. But of course you are free to introduce even earlier years if you wish to.

I counted 6 completions when he was defending. I don't remember how many targets but it wasn't too many more.

He needs to step up his game if he's ever going to get any slack from the fans. At least not with that 50M contract.

Is he good? Or just good at cheating (holding) while playing defense? I've noticed he holds a lot.

Being physical with receivers has always been a part of Carr's game. In fact, it's part of a lot of top-notch corners' game (for instance, Darrelle Revis was very physical with Dallas' receivers in last year's opener).

It seems the primary difference between them and corners who are always called for penalties is that the good ones know how to get away with it ... or maybe the officials are more lenient with them because they are considered "good" corners.

Kind of like the year when Mike Jenkins was called for everything he did, and it badly affected his game. Officials seemed to be looking to call penalties on him that year.
