Cunningham's and Young do have the same skills. I am not debating that...
When I see Young or Mcnabb running I do not think , Oh no he might get hurt or please run out of bounds....
When Young and Mcnabb are running with the ball I am thinking sure dont want to be a db taking these guys one on one at the goalline....

I would have thought that when Randal was running Eagle , Viking , Cowboy and fans of whoever he played for were a little more nervous when he was running the ball...

I know I did not say this well , but hopefully you understand where I am coming from......

AS for throwing all have a great arm and all pass very well....

I would agree with you that Young has more power then Cunningham did but I think the determining factor here is how they threaten a defense. When McNappie breaks containment, I'm really not affraid of him taking it 40 yards to the house. I'm more affraid of him dumping it off to somebody and them taking it 40. McNappie runs through tackles and he is physical but he's not very fast or even quick IMO. Young is a threat to take it all the way. He has speed to out run a LB or DB. He is hard to bring down but he is not typically what I would consider a physical runner. Cunningham was the same way. That is all I am saying.

These posts are difficult because we don't know what Young's NFL career will be like. So anyone comparing him or selecting him over Staubach is silly.

Give me Staubach.

But if I had a chance to draft either Young, Bush or Leinhart, I'd pick Bush.

He's the type of playmaker you know is going to be a playmaker. You can't teach those moves and speed. QBs have a higher bust ceiling than running backs.

I'd just go for the sure thing.

Well, here's what I'll tell ya. Since we haven't seen Bush play against NFL players, I'm not certain what relivance the players being bigger have one way or the other.

I would also say that while the players are bigger, faster and stronger today, it doesn't mean it's easier to run on them back in the day. The passing game has had a profound influence on offenses. It was more difficult to run on defenses back in the day. You didn't have to play your DBs back in a cover2. You could crowed your safeties and play your LBs closer to the hash. The blocking techniques were not as liberal for an offensive lineman. Lots of reasons why it was tougher to run then then now. Basically, all of this really means nothing in the discussion were having.

Bush runs like Sayers. He has the same attributes, size and vision. He runs like Sayers did back in the day. How he will perform against todays NFL players is a different discussion. He reminds me of Sayers.

I do not think it was any tougher to run back then or vice versa..
I do think that I would rather get hit by a 210lb linebacker than a 250lber....

I never saw Gail Sayers run , so I can not agree or disagree, I have heard on television that comparison......

I am comparing Dunn and Bush as I project them in the NFL....
For me I would take the other back from USC.. I like em big and fast...
There is little doubt in my mind htat Bush will be a very good player...
A number one pick over all , that is another story.....

Say you are visited by a draft prophet (not Mel Kiper) and he tells you that Bush is actually Dorsett reincarnated, Young is Staubach reincarnated, and Leinhart is Aikman reincarnated. The prophet also tells you that all 3 will be hall of famers. You are on the clock and have 15 minutes. Who do you choose?

Bush reminds me so much of Dorsett as a college RB. I never saw Staubach play at Navy. Any Young vs. Staubach comparisons? How about Aikman vs. Leinhart comparisons? I didn't see Aikman much in college.

How do you think Bush, Young and Leinhart will compare to Dorsett, Staubach, and Aikman 10 years from now?

What I do know about Aikman was that he had a rocket for a arm. Leinharts arm strength is a big question.

Let us all understand why McNabb and Young are not at all alike.

McNabb-shorter in stature and more compact. Much shorter strides. Passing - has a near text book setup and release. Ball often comes out hot - not a lot of touch on short passes. Lightening quick release. As a scrambler, he is a 'quick twitcher' making rapid side to side movements with short steps down the field. Darts and dodges in traffic.

Young-tall, lanky and a little thick. Long strider. Very long arms. Deceptive speed because of his long stride. Uses body lean and leverage to break tackles. Excellent vision to find the hole on the scramble. Never looks like he is giving full effort when he runs. Avoids rushers with calculated side to side movements. Long, looping throwing motion. Ball doesn't come out 'hot'. Throws a soft ball. Fairly quick release. Runs straighter down the field making fewer, calculated cuts.

I could use almost the exact same words for Randall Cunningham except that Young is heavier. But in terms of their running style, throwing motion, pass characteristics, etc. - they are very, very similar.

Sorry guys, Young doesn't remind me of McNabb at all. Yes they are both black and good runners, but they look nothing a like to me.
