No one is going to give up a stud pass rusher unless he has warts, they are almost as rare as pro bowl QBs. Have to look for teams who believe they are one player away from winning their division or going all the way to SB. Vikings are thin at OL, maybe even RB. Very deep on D. Jets are not contending with only 1 win but their owner is as much of an attention ***** as Jerry is and their offense is an absolute mess especially at QB. However they are very talent rich at DL. Broncos are looking to repeat with their elite D leading way but they are putrid on offense. Jags are also deep on D, especially LB, lousy on O.

That's why I said even if he's a project or a JAG with one good quality it would be worth it to us

Because he's an addict in a drug treatment facility, he hasn't competed in any football related activities, weight room, classroom, practice, etc for eight plus month's.
And he is suspended for most of the season
Maybe he comes back year but at the very least you can't depend on him

Well I doubt the tweet is made up.

Anyways, I think there was a rule change a few years back where players who are suspended for recreational drugs are allowed at the facility.

I forgot the details though.
they can work out, rehab and go to meetings but can't practice

the league wants a nurturing environment for players in the intervention program

PEDs and games punishments are banned from the facility

I just put on my bucket list, play video game "Madden Football".

It is obviously a mind altering experience.

I agree. Need to go after guys who are still young, unproven and/or buried on a good team's depth chart.

Vikes: DE Crichton
Jags: LB Jack
Browns: DE Holmes

Or players that teams may not re-sign or regret signing/willing to trade for SB or division run.

Broncs: DE Ware
Jets: DL Wilkerson or Sheldon
Vikes: S Smith
Browns: WR Gordon

And there is always Greg Hardy. :D

Probably the best name you could talk about is Cameron Jordan. He's a quality pass rusher who's still young and signed to a long term deal. The Saints, if they're being honest, should realize their in a rebuild. Now the big problem is I'm not sure that the Saints can actually trade him, I just don't know what type of cap hit that might cause and the Saints have had a bad cap situation for a few years now.

Wake is interesting because he's been good recently and is only signed for one more year. Hasn't been exceptional this year but has still flashed some pass rush moves. The Phins have a bad cap situation because they gave all the monies to Suh. Could happen, and I'd guess it wouldn't take a really good pick to get him.

McPhee could be interesting if the Bears want to say we aren't going to be good in the next three years and would rather have an extra good pick. I don't see the Bears saying that so probably doesn't happen.

Carlos Dunlap is interesting, but I just don't see the Bengals saying we're not going to win anytime soon and trade him.

Frankly most teams that might trade someone, losing teams, don't have good veteran pass rusher on them. It makes sense, that's usually part of why they're bad. That being said player trades almost never happen during season because most teams are too close to the cap during a season to be able to absorb the cap hit that they get for trading the player. Also no team seems to ever view themselves as not being a quick fix away from competing.

I understand the want and need for a pass rush to put us over the top this year, but at what cost? I wouldn't mind us dealing McFaddan but I don't see us getting much in return.

This team is slowly being built for the long haul. I don't want us to deal draft picks for an aging player on a big contract. I think we should stick with building the team through the draft and capitalize on team friendly contracts. No one can argue that we'll be drafting D heavy next year with the exception of maybe a WR and an OT.

If the Cowboys FO can get their heads out of their butts and stop drafting risky, chemically dependent players, we should be able to add another layer to this evolving, powerhouse of a team.

I know I mention the draft a lot in my posts but that's how winning teams are built. IMO we have to play the waiting game and continue to draft smart, if not smarter.

Guys, I've seen the idea scattered around different threads here. I figured with a long two weeks til Philly I'd spark it up...

I love what Tank, David Irving, Ryan Davis, and the Crawfords have done (especially vs. Cincy) but the fact of the matter is, with the emergence of this secondary, we might be an elite pass rusher away from having a GREAT defense to match this dangerous offense.

Hypothetically, who would be out there for us to possibly trade for? Who is someone we could afford cap wise, and could legit give this unit a jolt? (Please no Madden-like suggestions)

Or do we just leave it as is?
Been posting it for days...Cameron Wake...free rental on a sack artist coming off injury...we would need to give up very little for him in my view cuz he's FA after the season...Miami will let him walk and be happy to get something for him...

Trading for a DE is a no brainier. They are 5-1, have 2 QBs that can win, have a fairly easy schedule, and a overachieving defense that just needs some pass rush to be very strong. Trading a 3rd-5th pick for a DE that will give you 7-8 sacks down the stretch is a complete no brainier at this point. Even if they are a free agent and you can't resign them, you recoup the comp pick. I say go for it and don't think twice if the right player is available.

Right.

This team has done a good job of being patient and building through the draft.

But we need help on the DL.

There are surely decent guys out there in the last year of their contract on teams that are already out of it.

Don't want to mortgage the future, but I don't want to sit around and save for nothing either.
