The funny thing is that we could have drafted Byrd in 2009, but we gave up our #1 for WR Roy Williams with an expiring contract.
He wasn't a first round pick.

I hate hand-picked statistics like this.
So the Buffalo Bills' secondary was Jairus Byrd and nobody else? No pass rush, nothing. Just him in coverage by himself against spread formations? Stephon Gilmore didn't do anything for them?
These kind of stats are stupid. Plain and simple. They pander to the Madden/fantasy football fans and its a travesty that the game has been reduced from an 11-on-11 battle of teams to fans quoting individual statistics on Twitter.
If this is the case, then why didn't the Eagles go to the Super Bowl with Nnamdi Asomugha?
He wasn't a first round pick.
He was an early 2nd.
Yup. He's a special talent, he might be a better CB than he is a FS.
He was in college. The Ducks had TJ Ward, Patrick Chung, Byrd, and Walter Thurmond III that year. Byrd was a team player and slid over to CB due to injuries.
Free agent spending gets your in trouble with the cap.
I don't think this team values the safety position near enough to spend big money. They have been trying to get by on the cheap for years since Woody and the one time they spent some case on Hamlin they did not get the return they wanted.
When you combine how Jones was burned by both Hamlin and Sensabaugh along with how historically people like Kiffin and Marinelli have viewed the position, this signing is quite unlikely.
