Give me Ward or Byrd. I think Byrd gets that highest paycheck and we can bring in Ward for the defense.

Hopefully Jerry meaning he wants to "win now" with Romo means he is going to be crafty and give us a safety. Please almighty.

Sensabaugh didn't really burn the Cowboys. It was a pretty fair deal all around. Average pay for an average player.

The one year deal he signed as a free agent was good. The series of one year contracts were fine as well. The five year twenty million plus extension that produced one season was not. The dead money in that deal would be very handy right about now.

Sensabaugh was an enigma in that he had the tools to be great in coverage but was inexplicably lost at times and COULD lay a lick but also resembled MJenkins tackling techniques at the same time. Big Tease!

Only 8 million of that was guaranteed. He retired earlier than they anticipated.

Its not like the Bills are going to win a Super Bowl with him on the franchise tag in 2014. So take the comp pick and move on.

But to franchise him again puts them back where they started, the $ is very big and they still don't have his rights longterm. renting again

The Bills offer to Byrd woulve made him 1 of highest paid safeties in the NFL in 1st 2 yrs of deal. They'll continue to work on a new deal

While there had been reports the Bills would tag Jairus Byrd, from what I gather that is very unlikely. He rejected their latest offer...

Byrd is only 27 years old and is considered the best free safety in the game, known for his coverage skills. To say this is a hole in the Cowboys roster is an understatement. Numerous attempts since Woodson have failed for the last decade. Let's get him!

this is what gets so frustrating.

people letting the media give them crap to talk about.

fading star.
growing star.

let's write a story to get hits, but forget about reality.

forget about reality.

i do remember posting on forums when it was dial up and people had to wait for a response. i wished to god things would happen faster.

i miss those slow moving days where being an idiot was stupid..

Source? On overthecap he isn't listed. Jay Ratliff and Nate Livings combine for 9 million though. Ouch.

You are correct...was looking at the 2013 chart.

He was right behind Ratliff ahead of Livings.

The point still remains. Jones is not likely to want to pay a safety after doling out that kind of money over the years and still having the same issue he had when Williams started going in the tank. Well, actually since Woodson retired.

When you combine how Jones was burned by both Hamlin and Sensabaugh along with how historically people like Kiffin and Marinelli have viewed the position, this signing is quite unlikely.

Funny thing is I agree this is what jerry is thinking but in reality he didn't really "get burned" he just paid a couple of average players as if they were studs and as usual he was shocked and disappointed when they were average players. But he is such a bad evaluater that I am sure he sees Byrd or Whitner who are ten times the players of Sensebaugh and Hamlin and says no way I will fall for that again. Lol.

If you find a way to sign this guy and go heavy on DL in the draft, we will be a long way from worst defense ever. Byrd is a real star.

Ah, the Dunning-Kruger effect. One byproduct is the inability to recognize competence in others.
