Byron Jones Regressing?

Great.

It shows he's still probably a better CB than S.

My dream is that they fire this coaching staff. They bring in an innovative young DC who sends Brown packing, Jones moves to CB and they bring in a real SS type in FA. Then my starting nickel next year is:

Woods - FS
XXXXX - SS
CB - Jones
CB - Awuzie
CB - Lewis

Scandrick can be sent packing too, although there isn't much cap incentive to cut him after this year.
Woods doesn’t look like a starter either but I’m more open to Jones being a cb now than before. Get Morgan Burnett at SS and draft James or Kirkpatrick with the first rounder.

James/Kirkpatrick-fs
Burnett-SS
Jones
Lewis
Awuzie

A real secondary. Brown may be in the mix but he has to get in the film room and get hungry again. I def wouldn’t cut him though

Was he ever progressing? Always overrated in my book; great athlete, subpar football player.
His first season he showed flashes of what he could do, shadowing guys like Gronk. But he would sort of be ok at everything else. Now he's sub par in almost everything. There's a player there somewhere, just not with these coaches or this scheme.

When both of your safeties miss tackles and allow opponents to score, that's probably not a good thing!

All the blemishes are magnified when the team is losing. Byron Jones is but a blemish to the overall problems with this team. Get a real GM that will bring the axe down on Garrett and then we will on the road to fixing the team. Let's not piddle with the blemishes when the house is on fire.

Jones...heath.....say what you want but our safety play is embarrassing
Church may have been the best S we had sadly.
They are never in position to make a play or...if by some chance they are...they don’t.
A lot of folks tout Jones coverage of TEs but he sure never covered anyone when we played GB, in fact he made some obscure guys look like stars. If he could cover a TE, we might’ve won a SB last year.

Jones is a solid player but will never be a star. They need to put him at corner back. He can't be worse than Brown right now.

Byron jones is graded at 68.4 for the season - which is considered below average. Hopefully, if he studies film and executes properly he should end up an AVERAGE safety by the end of the year

You can see in the above post that Landon is rated 88.5 which is "high quality" vs Byron jones's rating of 68.4 which is "below average"

Now to answer the OP..he is regressing.

I won't evaluate anybody until we get a real coaching staff
