Byron Jones Regressing?

Hitchens.
thought so
he played better in that game of course not perfect
maybe he will keep improving after the missed time
he was looking really hungry in preseason with those big hits

Hitchens is a good (not great) player when paired with Lee.

Hitchens is not good enough to be the lead LB on a team.

Was he ever any good? I hated the pick then...(should have been Malcom Brown)...and still hate the pick now.
Come on Floaty...Jones was in the same draft class as TCU LB Paul Dawson who you mocked to the Cowboys in the 1st round.

How about some love.

He shadowed Ertz, who has statistically been one of the best tight ends in the league this year, and held him to 8 yards, and also turned on the afterburners to chase Ajayi down.

He's a solid player, in the wrong scheme. Remember D Ware in a 4-3? Even as great as he was, he couldn't fit. If we get better at NT and LB, safety will look better, as will CB. Not to say I am blown away by him. He certainly hasn't flashed 1st rd talent.

Still got carried like a ragdoll into the end zone by a scat back. Ertz has been held in check the last 2 weeks

I'm not a big fan of Jones, however, I thought he had a pretty good game last night in terms of pass defense.

My personal take is that I dont see him regressing. He was just never that good. Its just that hopeful is turning into reality. He was a project to begin with. Safeties have to be mean. He isnt mean enough.

This! He has never been any good. He would be a nice backup.

Byron Jones has been a bust since the day he walked in, he needs to join Dez in packing his bags.

Great.

It shows he's still probably a better CB than S.

My dream is that they fire this coaching staff. They bring in an innovative young DC who sends Brown packing, Jones moves to CB and they bring in a real SS type in FA. Then my starting nickel next year is:

Woods - FS
XXXXX - SS
CB - Jones
CB - Awuzie
CB - Lewis

Scandrick can be sent packing too, although there isn't much cap incentive to cut him after this year.

Hard to tell really, the Eagles didn't need to pass much considering the Cowboys defense put up zero resistance on the ground -- Eagles rushed for 215 yards.

They still passed 27 times and were shut down in the first half.
