I think RB is one of those positions that would actually take less to play behind our line. A la Alfred Morris

Did you actually watch Smith last year? He had one big run and the rest of his performance was below average. We need an upgrade at the backup RB position so if Zeke gets hurt or suspended again we are covered. Rod Smith had 55 carries last year for 232 yards but had 45 yards of that on 1 carry. So the other 54 attempts he gained 187 yards for a 3.4 yards per carry. Rod Smith is a JAG. Him and his brother are both overrated. I like him for special teams and that is about it. For someone so big he is very soft on short yardage runs. Several times on short yardage runs last year he spun and went back first.
 
I was going to post this myself and thought what a great pick-up this would be especially with his blocking skills.

But too redundant with Smith imo. Would much rather draft someone like Cohen.. Oh yeah too late.. whatever

The Miami Dolphins agreed to trade offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James to the Denver Broncos for running back C.J. Anderson before surprisingly backing out of the deal, sources told Troy Renck of Denver 7.

It's unclear when, exactly, the trade was set to happen, but the Broncos have been rumored to be listening to offers for Anderson throughout the offseason. Broncos general manager John Elway was mum on the 27-year-old's future in Denver when asked about it in late March, saying "he may or may not" be back.

CJ Anderson is 27. The Eagles signed Nick Foles (29), Chris Long (33), Alshon Jeffery (28), and Torrey Smith (29) last year. How did that work out for them?

Don't even bother. He seems to think you can build a successful team solely based on the draft. No FA or Trades. Ever.

Now look at the Eagles FA all 3 years before last year and the Giants FA last year. I don't like the odds.

A great, hot QB at playoff time, a great coaching staff, and an adequate defense wins in the playoffs. We don't
have any of those this year.

Yes, his $4.5 million dollar salaries in 2018 and 2019 kills his trade value. I'm thinking Dallas could offer him around $1.5 to $2 million a year and secure a viable backup RB.
 
Depending on the money involved, Anderson would be a great signing. He's only 27 and has had success in the league. I realize 27 for a RB isn't the same as 27 for a TE, but he's still got plenty left. Besides, I'm thinking about a 2-3 year contract as a backup RB, not a five year starter.

I would rather just keep Smith and look for a Kamara type in the draft. CJ is not a difference maker at all.

There are better and younger RB's in this draft and we're likely to get one.
 
At this stage of his career (27yo), would Anderson be willing to take backup snaps and, more importantly, backup $$?

He's an above average RB and will be a backup in Dallas. I guess it depends on what your idea of a difference maker is. If Elliott were to sustain an injury that cost him a game or two, would you want Smith as our starter? I wouldn't. I don't disagree that we need to draft a change of pace back, but even that type of back isn't going to work as a fill-in for Elliott.
 
CJ had 1000 yards for Denver, who's OL might have been the worst in the league. They couldn't block anything.

If the money's right, sure. Getting some quality depth at RB would do some good on offense. Find the shifty/quick guy in the draft that brings speed, and you have a solid 3 man rotation.
