Not sure if it’s prospect fatigue or ignorance but some of the comments on this forum and NFL twitter in general about Caleb Downs are hilarious. This is the best player in the draft and there’s a chance he falls to 12! He has instincts that you simply can’t coach. Eric Weddle 2.0

He would transform the D day 1. People underestimate what a game breaking safety can do for a team.

This is why I don’t think he makes it to 12. If he’s there at 11 Miami’s phone will be ringing off the hook.

There was some blather about degenerative knees. Not sure if he's fallen in the eyes of the scouts and/or teams.

For whatever reason in that thread I thought you were talking about trading up for a David Bailey type move. But yes I would do move up to 9 for 29

Don’t worry, he won’t get past 12 as he is the perfect fit for that nickel role

I know its a sad admission but I had a dream we drafted him. Lol.

Didn’t that get debunked as BS?
Pretty much; it might affect him when he is pushing 30 or so but so what? He will almost certainly have, of course barring injury, a career of 8-10 top years. No one should downgrade him for that.

those calling downs a box safety have never seen him play
he is not a Pure FS but then there are always few of them. What you will get with him is a very high quality FS who lays wood in the run game. Something we DESPERATELY need.
Probably the best player in the draft that we have a chance at

If don’t move into the top 10 and he’s there at 11, there could get into a trade war with teams and what they can give the Phins.

Game breaking safeties don't really matter.

Baltimore's pass defense has been horrific with Hamilton.

He's a safety; he's a complementary defensive player. As good a prospect as he is, pass rushers, offensive tackle, cornerbacks, linebackers, wide receivers and quarterbacks are far more important.

He is the only blue chip prospect in this class for me.

Due to positional value he might be there at 12 which would be a great fit.

I am not moving up for a lower value position though especially in a loaded Safety class.
