Calling Stasheroo... Mort wants 'boys to sign Matt Jones

Sign Matt. He can't be as bad as some of the guys we currently have.....and while your at it bring up Olgletree. Williams is hurt and shouldn't play....let Olgletree split time with Austin.

It's worth noting that Matt's #'s last year were with David Garrard as QB, DAVID GARRARD! Come on, he would be sooooo happy to play with a real QB and you know as bad as Romo can be he is still better than Garrard on his bad days. Bring him in Jerry and do it Monday, two weeks to prepare during the bye. To add a guy with his skill set and the other Jones back healthy would be a big help.

Why is Garrard not a real QB?

We don't need more big tall guys with great straight line speed.

If anything play Kevin Ogletree.
thank you. I have been saying this forever. All of our guys are the SAME guys....big guys with average to above average speed. What exactly would Matt Jones do differently than the guys we already have? Play Ogletree. You are not going to keep both Austin and Hurd next year....so pick one and move on.

Wonder what DeCamillis thinks of Matt Jones ... his opinion may be the linchpin ...

Maybe that has something to do with why they havent even bothered to bring the guy in for a workout. Campo was there too.

In fact, maybe eventually people will wake up and see there IS a reason NOBODY wants this guy. 32 teams...nobody wants him.

I agree with you.

This team has a bunch of long-legged gliders who take a while to hit top speed.

And they have few guys who run great routes and make sharp cuts. Hurd is probably the best route runner who plays right now.

And adding Jones would give them another of the same.

I'd play Ogletree and see what he can bring to the table.

The time to have even thought about signing Jones has passed. This team is stuck with the receivers they so badly wanted to go into this season with.

I'll ask again

If we signed him who do we get rid of? Jones has never played special teams that I have heard of so he can't replace Austin or Hurd. Gurode is hurting so we can't get rid of Proctor. We are thin in the secondary so we can't get rid of Watkins.

So who does Jones replace?

While I'm not advocating signing Jones, Corey Procter is an absolute waste of roster space.

I'd just as soon go with 52 if it meant being rid of that twitching trashbag.

As a matter of fact, has the team signed anyone since Washington was released back to the practice squad?

So espn can have something else to say about the Boys signing another guy that had off the field problems

Yes we signed a CB

His inability to play special teams would be a major reason why he wouldn't get signed. I said it before in the spring, I am sure DeCamillis and Campo have given Jones all the information he needs and he's likely to go off of that. They know the player and what he can do. It is more a matter of fit. Do they want a high maintenance receiver who "could" improve the team or would they rather stick with grinders who fill roles.

Personally, I would sign him as I firmly believe we need another weapon in the passing game and I don't think it is Ogletree (he still needs to play, give him a shot though).

I don't buy into the notion he'd ****** the progress of our young receivers as both Hurd and Austin have been given ample opportunity to break out and both aren't doing it. But I can understand if we don't bother.

Like it or not Proctor is here to stay. He's supposedly entrenched on special teams, regardless of how limited he is as a lineman.

I like the USC (Pete Carroll) mentallity.

always wondered bout the college stuff on a cowboys site

I live in Arkansas and you may think Im a Matt Jones fan but the truth is he did screw up. But like Mike Vick he has paid his dues and deserves another chance. As far as him being lazy I dont believe that, he has always looked as though he wasnt trying or putting in the effort even in college. Look at some of his college highlights he looks like hes running half speed but hes running off leaving everyone behind and from what I seen of him in Jacksonville he caught most anything they threw his way but didnt have his skills utilized there. I think Dallas should take a chance on Matt even if they test him everyday I think they would like the results he would give them and would be a great addition to the team. I think the haters would be suprised how well he does with a real team.

Welcome to The Zone. Hope you enjoy it here.

I think Matt Jones is better than Crayton, which means he's alot better than Austin Miles/Miles Austin or the Great Sam "5.0" Hurd.
