I'm glad Calvin said it. If Dez is a competitor it will only push him to get better. Megatron wasn't helping his Lions in saying that. Foolish.

Is there a more overhyped receiver than Calvin Johnson on a team that hasn't done squat since he's been on it?

Ditto for Andre Johnson. Fitzgerald has at least played in a super bowl.

No, because he's not over-hyped. Both their teams sucked for a long time and WRs don't carry their teams to SBs.

It's the same as people always trying to compare Kobe or Lebron to MJ, or saying they'll never be on MJ's level like it should be a slight to them. Ok, so if he's not MJ, they're still two of the greatest basketball players to ever pick up a ball.

Problem is, you can't compare them to MJ. Those WRs you can compare them to each other.

Calvin Johnson's comment about Dez's route running should serve as impetus for Dez to prove otherwise. Dez has come a long way toward beating that sort of criticism this year. Hopefully, he'll be 100% this game. Johnson should challenge Carr with his toughest test yet this season. Carr will need to perform well on Sunday.

agree that dez has come a long way. he is so physically talented that often he relies on that. as he matures, he will realize how much better he can be by refining his craft. he is motivated and surronded by the right people. so hopefully he keeps improving. he absolutley loves football and you can clearly see that.

200 yards and 2tds will shut Calvin up. That is my prediction for this game. Dez will go off

Well, if Calvin played for GB, New England, New Orleans, Baltimore, or New York...he would have played in a Super Bowl.

BTW, Calvin has been very complimentary of Dez this week. The press and some fans are just trying to stir things up.

Calvin Johnson is a beast and he's proven that, but then again, you really only say things like this when you have a bit of insecurity coming out. What Calvin Johnson sees when people talk about Dez is a 24 year old guy who is on pace for a better season than Calvin this year.

And that guy also plays on a team that people care about deeply, and not the Detroit Lions. Megatron wants to be the best receiver in the league, and if Dez starts putting up better numbers than him while also being younger and on the Cowboys, suddenly nobody's talking about him any more. And if nobody is talking about him, what's his career? Because it surely isn't going to be about getting deep in the playoffs on the Detroit Lions.

Right now you would have to say Calvin Johnson is considered by most to be the best WR in the NFL. Best at route running- NO. But when you have the physical advantages he has that is not so important. And he certainly has improved since he came into the league at it.

oh come on. I really doubt Johnson is losing any sleep as regards Dez.

and since you clearly are not someone that is cognizant of NFL history- there are many players considered great that never made it to a Championship Game or SB.

Sadly Demarcus Ware and Jason Witten might be two of them. So you think they are nothing because the team they are on has not been able to get it together?

What exactly has AJ Green or Dez Bryant's team done since they've been on it? It goes both ways. Frankly I don't see how you can claim a WR is over hyped for a bad team, if he is their only player it is that much more impressive what he has been able to accomplish with constant double teams.

Unless you're ready to say Ware and Witten are also over hyped because our team hasn't had post season success it is an odd argument in my opinion.

Woah. Is this coming from megatron?

Originally given that nickname (by roy williams) because of his robotic/stiff route running?

His route running is much better the past 2 years, but the first 5 years of his career he was kind of a bad route runner.

Dez has much more room For improvement. Calvin peaked last year....

I'd chose dez over calvin all day considering age and potential career production

Let's not kid ourselves. Dez isn't a great route runner.

But nobody competes for a ball like Dez, and Romo knows that and gives him opportunities because of it.

At least he lines up correctly now and gets to spots consistently.

I only remember one play this year where Dez obviously rounded a route, and it ended up being a big play, anyway, because he wasn't in close traffic. I think he's probably improved most in his adjustments. I say this, because we're not seeing the picks we saw early last year when Tony goes his direction. Dez's catch radius and his skills high-pointing and coming back for the ball make up for some of his route deficiencies. It's maybe not a strength in his game, but when you have his physical skills, it really doesn't have to be.

Loving the story line that's shaping up here between Dez and Johnson. It'd be pretty fun to see Dez go off and our defense somehow contain CJ. Let this be a statement game for Dez as to who belongs in the Best WR in the NFL argument, and start the ball rolling on a little swagger for this offense. Give the defense another chance to prove they've addressed the coverage limitations that were exposed in SD.

Interesting, never would have thought Dez numbers would be better until I seen this yesterday.http://i30.***BLOCKED***/albums/c333/spook930/133F382E-F7C0-4435-B642-6F76E3B5F80A-2431-000000DB551B486B_zps5f189f88.jpg

Yea its funny. In the defense of Romo, Cowboy fans....including myself, always talk about how Romo shouldn't be judged for our lack of playoff success because its a team game. But now people want to blame Calvin for the Lions being terrible? Calvin is just as good as advertised and if anyone doesn't believe that they simply don't watch enough football.

Honest question... Is Calvin a "great" route runner?

Another honest question, how does Calvin know what type of route runner Dez is? I mean when would he have time to look at Dallas' offense on the all 22, seems to me he'd know more about the coverage abilities of Carr and Scandrick than Dez's route running. A couple of years ago Patrick Peterson commented on Dez only knowing a few routes but that's because he studied him in preparation for the game which is understandable but Calvin? I don't get it.
