calvin needs to pull his head out of his *** and stop vomiting up yesterdays heros.

i'll challenge him to write 5 cowboys articles and go head to head. i already know which direction he'd run.

challenge still open.

That catch Calvin made this past weekend proves he is still the best WR in the game. He jumped over 3 defenders to make the TD catch. Vs Dez having a hail mary pass go through his hands with 2 defenders behind him. I love Bryant and i think he will someday overtake Calvin as the best and he may do it this weekend. But as of today, Johnson still holds that title.

Not too hard when you are 6-5, and the cb's are 6-0 or under.

Not sure if anyone caught this, and it was somehow absent from Jon Machota's tweets that WoodysGirl provided...

Calvin was asked about Dez, and here was one of his lines verbatim:

"Besides route-running, he's an all-around good receiver."

For some reason, the tweet from Jon Machota omitted the "besides route-running" qualifier. I wonder why. Reporters usually live for ammo like that.

This made me think of that year the media suddenly became fixated on how many catches T.O. had dropped. CJ is Detroits modern day Barry Sanders.

I take it as "yeah he's a great route runner, but besides that he's great at many other things too.."

Calvin is a classy guy, I don't think he would take a shot at other players like that.

I think you are right. But it is completely going over everyone else's head. The statement can actually be taken either way but in the context of providing sincere compliments to Dez it is more likely that Johnson was saying Dez IS a good route runner.

Machota deserves props for conveying the intent of Johnson's message rather than fanning flames. Ironic that so many criticize the media for always seeing the negative and hyping that. And now the shoe is on the other foot. I do understand its easy to interpret as most are. I just think they're mistaken.

Ehh? What does that have to do with anything ...

Go look at his garbage time stats and it will make even more sense.

Ahh I understand now, that's why Dez's stats where as good as they were last year, right? I mean we were just a mediocre 8-8 team, and Dez was just getting "garbage time stats" especially since his stats didn't lead us to a playoff ... That darn Dez.

Lions receiver Nate Burleson also had a comment this week; saying Bryant is nowhere near as good as Calvin Johnson (or something to that effect).

In related news, Burleson is nowhere near as good as Miles Austin.;)

Dez says he can do anything Calvin can do, but that hail marry that Romo threw at the end of the half against the Eagles. The one that went through Dez's fingertips and was intercepted? That pass would have been a touchdown if Calvin Johnson was the WR. With Dez, as good as he is, it was an interception.

That's the difference.

That's a great point. That's a catch you have to make if your'e going to be THE BEST.

I hope at some point Sunday Stafford throws up a hail mary and Calvin fails to come down with it.

Funny how he's being talked about like he SURELY would've caught that Romo hail mary last week, as if he's a lock to come down with a hail mary with 2 defenders draped on him. The Lions would go 16-0 every season if he was THAT unstoppable.

I hope Dez has a big game in a win. I'm not saying he's better than Calvin, but I'm gettingtired of the National talking about Dez like he's a chump or something. Its annoying.

Who exactly is talking about Dez like he's chump change?

I might be in the minority, but I don't believe Dez is smart enough to pick up on the fact that this was an insult.

Is there a more overhyped receiver than Calvin Johnson on a team that hasn't done squat since he's been on it?

Ditto for Andre Johnson. Fitzgerald has at least played in a super bowl.

You're calling both Johnson's overhyped...and you think Dez isn't smart?

Well I mentioned it yesterday in the top 5 WR thread, point blank he still has problems with the route tree and running good crisp routes in general, but he has gotten alot better at it. Alot better from awful is better, if thats the context you are looking for.

Dez is the best WR in the league with the ball in his hands, and might have the best hands in the league along with all the athleticism in the world. But a complete WR he's not.....yet.

Sorry.... I love dez but he doesn't have the best hands on this team. He dropped a lot of balls last week.
