Cam Newton... Grandiose showboater or just showing his swag?

Ive yet to find someone complain about Muhammadi Ali's tactics...but they'll complain about someone else doing the same.

Who cares if its showboating or w/e...it gets in his opponents head...thats all that matters in competition.

Bit of both showboating and swag. He gets excited about the game and plays like it. I had a lot of doubts about him coming out of college and early on in his career. Not sure how long he can play as he is currently playing, most QB who challenge defenders instead of sliding do not last long. Then again Cam is bigger than many of the guys trying to take him to the ground.

I didn't like Cam last year when his horrible division pooped out a winner and apparently this year not liking him makes me a scared racist. It's all ridiculous, this is sports, since when do you need rational reasons to dislike someone? I can't stand Jay Cutler and don't have justification other than him seeming like a bit of a bollox. I can't stand RG3 and he's been crap longer than he's helped the slurs. Hell I went from liking Murray to thinking he was all about himself and the cash in less than six months. Sports, their absurd. Cam needs to grow thicker skin.

Ill root against him in the Super Bowl. Not because Im a racist. Because he acts the fool. I think JFF is a fool as well, but nobody gets labeled a racist for feeling the same way about JFF. Cam brings up the "African American QB" topic to defend his acting the fool then acts offended when people ask him about it after that. IMO the more he talks the more he looks like a fool.

Thanks for everyone giving their opinion. I think Cam is a great talent that lacks appreciation for the virtue called humility. Like it or not kids see his behavior and want to emulate what they see on TV. Sportsmanship goes out the window and the games is suddenly only about the individual.

I actually enjoy watching him play. Part of my enjoyment comes from his showmanship.

I'm actually pulling for the Panthers (well, as much as I pull for anyone who isn't the Cowboys which ain't much) just because I want to hear the constant whining once Cam actually wins a Super Bowl. Oh those tears will be delicious!

I had the same doubts and gladly admit I was wrong. He's certainly league MVP and I expect him to be the MVP on Sunday as well. He's developed his game far better than I expected.

I'm of two minds on the question asked. Do I think it's a bit excessive and shows a bit of immaturity? Sure I do. It is, and it does.

Having said that, does it make me dislike him, or think he's a bad person as a result? Certainly not.

And, for the record, I love, love, love what he and the Panthers do by giving the football to the children in the stands. They make an indelible mark on that child's life, with an experience they'll never forget, and they also likely have a fan for life along the way.

Showboating rarely bothers me but the way Cam goes about it is irritating. But hey he is doing it his way so I cannot fault him for that.
