[p/e09Play man and let Carr beat the snot out of Jackson just like last time. Desean is the biggest wussy in the game.

The D needs to control their gaps to keep McCoy from the big runs.

As for Foles he is a solid QB that has been incredibly lucky with his deep ball. Between overturned picks, tipped balls and mistimed jumps he has about 5 more TDs and 6 fewer INTs than he should have.

That would make him 30-8. Still better than Romo.

I don't really know how to grade Foles. I keep waiting for him to completely bust and have a bad game, but he just keeps playing very well. 25 TDs & 2 INT.

I saw this on ESPN today:

Top 5 All Time Single-Season Passer Rating:

Aaron Rodgers (2011) - 122.5
Peyton Manning (2004) - 121.1
Nick Foles (2013) - 118.7*
Tom Brady (2007) - 117.2
Peyton Manning (2013) 113.0*

I think Chip Kelly has a lot to do w/ what Foles is doing. He has changed his offense to his strengths and it has been perfect. I think he will be a decent QB in the NFC East for the next 5 yrs.

Coaching. Chip Kelly had adjusted his offense to fit Foles rather than forcing Foles to fit his offense.
Exactly. Kelly has done a masterful job of assessing his players' strengths and weaknesses and tailoring his offense to fit what they do best. It took him a few weeks after Foles definitely became the guy to put it all together, but he's done a great job since then. I still don't think Foles is anything special as a talent, but that's what good coaching can do.

Before I knew much about him, I thought Kelly might be just a good spread coach who benefited from Phil Knight's resources in college. But he's adapted well and looks like a great coach right now. He's one reason I'd love to see what Briles could do here, though I know it won't happen.

We won't really know about Foles till next years, after teams have had a full off season to evaluate him, and look for tendencies and weaknesses. Personally, I think he's gonna be good.

I don't know how to grade foles, even as an eagles fan

to be honest, you can't really grade him this season unless he somehow wins the superbowl. You have to give him a full season next year and see where it goes.

Right now though, the 3rd round QBs (foles and Wilson) are severely outplaying the first 2 picks of the 2012 NFL draft (luck and RG3)

amazing.

he said incompletions, not INTs

also foles rarely tries to throw a risky pass, hence the low INT rate.

I'd like to see how he plays in a shoot out where he has to sling the ball into tight coverage

Wonderful, objective post.
Thank you.
My best friend was born and raised in Philly.
He loves all Philly sports and we jaw endlessly- in good fun.

I know people say that Eagles fans are the worst, but so are generalizations...

I too am curious about Foles. He might be the real deal.
I guarantee you coming Sunday is not going to provide you with any concrete answers.

The Cowboys D is very bad- last Eagles game not withstanding...

We shall see, friend. A Merry Christmas to you and I hope my Cowboys run rough-shod over your Eagles.

Mercilessly.

he had one tipped ball against green bay which turned into a score

and he had one overturned pick against Arizona which was a terrible decision and pass, however the flag was thrown before he threw the ball FYI

He also had a TD called back against Washington because celek was tackled just shy of the marker and downed at the 1 yard line, and a throw to cooper where it was ruled down at the 1, but during the replay it showed cooper was clearly in, but chip decided not to challenge it

So with those 4 plays, he'd have 2 more TDs, and 2 more INTs, and one less TD, so overall 1 TD and 2 INT difference from his current stats, not a huge difference

basically the message here is QBs can get very lucky on some bad throws, and have bad luck such as ball bouncing from a receiver into a defender's hands.

in a 16 game season however, murphy's law balances out and the stats should be accurately displayed

I hate to break it to you, but it's definitely not "luck" lol. This guy is really good

You are so right in every sense of the word.

That would be 20-8.

My bad. I read it wrong.

But too bad we don't play the "what if" games. I tried that to prove my point that Romo was having a bad season by saying "what if we don't include the amazing Broncos game", and nobody was going for it. So since we must live in reality, Foles has 25 TDs, 2 INTs and the highest passer rating in the league.

Didn't Robert Griffin have 20 TDs and 5 INTs last year and everyone crowned him as superior to Romo?

Wait for it. The same thing will happen to Foles next year.

A lot of people, even Eagles fans, don't particularly know what to think of Foles. You get a lot of wait till he plays a good team, wait till he plays a legitimate defense, wait till he plays a year and coaches get tape on him. That's what happens when you are 3nd round pick. If he was drafted round 1 everyone would be saying he's the best thing since Peyton Manning. If he beats us he's not going to play a defense better than Arizona in the playoffs and he picked them apart. This is his 2ND year so coaches already had film on him from last year when he was playing with 9 backups and went 1 & 5 in games he started. I could tell he was going to be good because he made scrubs better. It's not like we don't know him, we've beaten him 3 times, but this game worries me. He's not playing with backups anymore, and he has gained some experience since we trounced him earlier this year. I do have him in my FF roster, he's money. It wouldn't shock me if they traded him at some point. Kelly likes his running quarterbacks.

I wouldn't hold your breath for Nick Foles to start sucking. The guy is for real and he is the future of the Eagles and a pain in our *** for years to come. The guy can play.

Having said that, I would love to knock his block off this weekend.

Few things:

* Foles benefits from having one of best RB in league.
* Skip Kelly deserves alot of credit here because Foles has major weakness in his game that Kelly has shielded (statue QB).
* Eagles are doing this without Maclin...kind of scary.

Lets see what happens next year as league has off-season to adjust to what Kelly is doing.

I thought his early success after he break out game with 7 TDs and 0 Interceptions was a aberration -- mainly the result of playing against really bad teams.

10 games in he has 25 TDs, 2 Interceptions, and a 119 QB rating.

Since the Cowboys knocked him out of the earlier game with a concussion I've been waiting for him to suck and he has not come through.

I watched every minute of the Bears-Eagle game and in a game that didn't matter he broke the Eagles single-game franchise record by completing 84 percent of his passes (21 of 25). The crazy part is that three of his four incompletions came on balls that were thrown away.

I refuse the believe the Eagles found a QB this good. Please tell me that Foles is going to come back to earth and that the Eagles haven't lucked upon a Franchise QB for the next decade.

Can the Cowboys make him fall back to earth this week?

We made he look rather useless in that first game. Eagles schedule has helped him beat up on teams with backup QBs and less than 500 teams. The pressure is all on him this Sunday.

Foles is the real deal.

Numerous teams pursued Foles when he was on the market.

So I think he's been held back with the fact that Vick is still around.

How was Foles ever "on the market" being a 2012 3rd round draft pick under contract with the Eagles though 2015?
