The effect of the running game on the passing game is usually marginal and probably not enough to affect the outcome of any games. Or just look at how Romo performed in obvious passing situations, when the running game wasn't a factor.

I wouldn't spend a lot of time either attacking nor defending this corps of running backs because the odds are high that come the first game of the season the make up of the group will be different. And it could be different again as the team approaches the trade deadline.

Problem with that is we have had an effective and efficient passing game for yeas and it never translated to a running game like this

In all fairness the running game averaged 4.5 ypc in '13 which is only .1 of a yard less than last season.

The running game gained more yardage last season because there was a shift in offensive play calling philosophy.

Neither Denver or Baltimore got desperate and picked those players up after they set sail for training camp or during the season. Both teams made a decision to go with those backs early on and prepared them to be apart of their rotation. What you're saying is the odds are high that come the first game of the season the makeup of the Cowboys group of backs could be different. If the Cowboys are having to start a back who wasn't apart of their OTA's or training camp then they obviously made a mistake with the backs they prepared with all offseason. If the none of the Cowboys RB's are impressing in camp or in preseason and they're forced to look for a trade or some scrub on the street their running game won't be near the same as it was last season. Denver relies on Manning to win games (that may change in 2015) so a running game hasn't been as vital for them as it is for the Cowboys. Because Denver relies so heavily on Manning everything falls apart in postseason which is why they may start taking some of the burden off him. Denver got knocked out of the playoffs by a Colts team the Cowboys blew out. Forsett only averaged 2.5 a carry in the Ravens playoff win over the Steelers. It took a very efficient zero turnover performance by Flacco for Baltimore to win that game plus the Ravens had the 8th ranked defense. The Cowboys would never win a playoff game especially with their defense with their lead back averaging 2.5 a carry it would put the game on Romo's shoulders and he's never excelled in the playoffs when the game is put on him.

Denver got knocked out of the playoffs by a Colts team the Cowboys blew out. Forsett only averaged 2.5 a carry in the Ravens playoff win over the Steelers. It took a very efficient zero turnover performance by Flacco for Baltimore to win that game plus the Ravens had the 8th ranked defense. The Cowboys would never win a playoff game especially with their defense with their lead back averaging 2.5 a carry it would put the game on Romo's shoulders and he's never excelled in the playoffs when the game is put on him.

I only worry about things I have no control over. I wish I was a homer they never worry about anything concerning the Cowboys. They always think they'll be fine no matter what players they lose to free agency or who goes down with an injury. Some are spinning the Cowboys RB situation will be better now that Murray is gone. Saw a post a couple of weeks ago with someone saying the Cowboys running game won't miss a beat and will again rank in the top 2 in rushing and to book it! One FAN is so confident about the Cowboys current group of backs he's predicting a 2000 yard season for Ryan Williams. Another FAN is predicting a 1700 yard season for McFadden while another is predicting 1500 for Randle. I may end up eating a little crow in 2015 but I'll guarantee I won't be choking down the amount some will. lol

I am the opposite, I only worry about things over which I have at least a modicum of control. Otherwise I'd be in the corner rocking and muttering because of the possibility of rogue asteroid strikes and ebola, to name but 2 of the billions of things I can't control which could make things terminally unpleasant.

I have to say though, even if I was worried about all of the things I can't control, I'd put the Cowboys RB situation pretty low on the list.

No last season you were predicting a pass happy mess and a 6 win season, with no mention of an 1800 yard season from Murray...sorry but I think laughing at other poster"s predictions with your track record is what deserves .

My comment was mostly about the Cowboys. As fans we have no control over the moves or decisions the team makes and every team has some issues that worry their fan base. I always examine things closely looking at every angle before forming an opinion.

Well I don't believe any of those will happen.

In addition I don't believe the running game will suddenly disappear either.
