Given how much Cowboys value position versatility, how they used Vince Mayle as a move TE when they had to, and Linehan's comments below, maybe Brown makes the 53 and we carry 6 WRs and 3 TEs (one of them Rico). Thoughts?

“[Brown] is a little bit of an all-around guy,” Cowboys offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said, via the Dallas Morning News. “He’s an outside receiver with a big frame. He’s kind of got a ‘tweener’ size (6-2, 222) when it comes to receiver. He’s got a little bit of a TE element to his game as far as his size and the matchup and the people he’s blocking. So he should match up well in that area.
“He’s a good receiver, too. He has a real consistent game, and he’s a smart kid, so we’re excited about him.”

Brown might be the blocking WR we've missed since Harris left. I'm beginning to doubt that Hanna's going to be ready for camp. He may fail his physical and get released

The Cowboys, more than some other teams, value WRs that can block. Noah Brown was a nasty blocker in college. He really appeared to enjoy blowing up defenders.

I felt bad for Mayle. He got ripped off on some of those blocks that were called holding. He pancaked a a defender a couple of times and they called it holding.

Seems that if the team felt they were bad calls, he'd not have been cut

This is getting bonkers.

Brown is a nice blocker for a wideout; give me Hanna over him any day as an in-line blocker or even as an h-back which Hanna did every once in awhile.

Hanna is coming off what is believed to be microfracture surgery in November. Folks are having better outcomes with that surgery than in the past but it remains one of the surgeries that is a bit iffy - no matter how good the rehab work, sometimes the cartilage just doesn't regrow.

I don't know that we can count on Hanna to be ready. We'll know when camp starts but it wouldn't surprise me if he got waived or pup'ed

The only way Brown is going to supplant Butler on the roster is if he has a Dak-like preseason. And I don't know if that's possible with second and third string QBs throwing to him.
