I agree but my point was that there is no way Parcells can wait until after the draft to hire a GM. He will be expecting his GM (Ireland) to run this years draft but theres no way Jerry can allow Ireland to leave before the draft and take all the knowledge he has accumulated on this years players to Miami while Jerry has been paying his salary all along. To allow that, I would think serious compensation would be in order.

For their 1st, I will help Ireland pack and drive him to the airport tommorow!!!:D

It's really simple.

If Parcells want's Ireland now he must give Jerry something to make Jerry consider letting him out of his contract before the draft.

If Parcells wants to wait till after the draft then Jerry is not going to stand in his way.

This sums it up clearly!

Jerry does not want to lose his investment until after the draft. He's not stupid! Now, if Parcells said, "Ah, come on Jerry, I need Ireland...I'll give you our first round draft pick for him"...

Now that is a whole different story!!

Like Beast_From_East said, I'm sure there are more then a few people that would help make sure Ireland got to Miami nice and safe if Parcells wants to give up his #1. I'm sure Jerry is included in that.;)

Shoot, I'll take a second for Ireland, since it would be a 1st anyway #32 in the draft.....

we would go in the draft with the #

19 pick
31 pick
32 pick
and the #64 pick

And without a good personnel man, I'm sure they'd all be great picks. This would be pretty damn stupid.

What is your problem? We have Jerry, right?

Besides, do you think Ireland is the ONLY personnel guy in the NFL?

Bill Parcells is not trading his ammunition(the #1 over all pick) for a GM. They are a 1 win team and need all the picks they can get.

Jerry will keep Jeff until after the draft and then Ireland will go to the Fins IMHO. Bill and the Fins scouts will run this draft and that probably suites Bill just fine as he loves the head man role and this is the most important Fins draft in 20 years so you know Bill's gonna do all the dealing and make those trade decisions.

All Parcells has to do is offer Ireland the GM promotion with "final say" and there is nothing JJ can do to stop Parcells from hiring Ireland.

I cannot argue with that...

But, first the contract must be read to know if what you say is true.

Giants 23 - Patriots 20

Yup, AFTER the draft.

Parcells can offer Ireland control of the Northern hemisphere but he still can't take it till after the draft with out Jerry's permission.

I've bought into the Dallas media fed characature that Parcells is just a grumpy old man who everyone hates (despite the fact that his assistants and former players follow him wherever he goes), so going by that I think Ireland refuses to take a promotion ... because Parcells is a big ole' meanie. It makes so much sense if you really stop to think about it.

Parcells contingent of grumpy old men that follow him to every fishing hole he stumbles upon is growing slimmer unlike his waist line. That's what happens when your foundation for every team you take over starts to resemble the avg age of the local good boys lodge.

It's also difficult to fill open spots when all the branches of coaching tree are are currently occupying HC positions.

We'll be the picture of youth when Larry Lacewell replaces Jeff Ireland.

You act as if Ireland was one of Parcells' guys. He wasn't. He was hired before Parcells got here and promoted to VP at Lacewell's urging.

is the last by ogt. Ireland was here before Bill, and unless they forged some special bond we don't know about.....I sure hope not because to me, the guys absolutely knows what he's doing. Yeah, he missed on Carp, but not MBthree or Canty or Ware, etc... And our undrafted free agents have been the best in football: Romo, Hurd, Austin, etc.....

well then he's with us until atleast after the draft. you'd think he could negotiate a nice contract with him but if he wnats to go let him atleast we got a another draft out of him. Hopefully its becoming more and more clear to jerry that he needs to keep this staff together.
