Can Tyson Thompson beat out Julius Jones?

Meanwhile, while out of the box the player is not focused totally on duties inside the box and therefore less effective at times because he is not fully prepared.

Hos, I can see Thompson being kept on the roster as a kick return specialist.

So can I, but that isn't out of the box. There has been speculations since mini camp that this could be his role here.

Yeah, I'm not trying to think outside of the box. But I look at it from the aspect of if he can hold on to the ball his speed should be a great asset in the return game.

I'd feel more comfortable with him than a little weenie like Zuriel Smith who scares me every time he's back there because he's so small. Sure, he can hold on real tight, but when you're 175 lbs and you get hit by a 230 lb saftey, you're gonna cough it up a time or two ... I'd rather avoid that kind of thing.

In other words, I like Thompson's size and speed to be a return specialist.

that and Zuriel has had problems hlding on to the ball without getting hit, RB i think do better as they have the hoemrun threat and are more accustum toprotecting the ball, remeber they have to run the holes in the OL:D

I'm glad you felt the need to welcome me to the forum. thank you so much for that, and also thank you for the young man statement. im 35 years young and have been following the BOYZ since 1977. (DORSETT, WATERS, R WHITE, HILL, PERSON, STABUACH/WHITE) Born and raised in Philly and love the town but hate the football team. So again thank you for the sarcasms SIR.

Hey Saladin, I'm trying to get some clue as to what Thompson is all about and two article today are clarifying a portion of the picture for me..

One is the Ventura County Star article mentioning a completion from Bledsoe...can this kid catch out of the backfield?

Another was the Star Tel - Hill Jr camp notes I think - mentioning that while JJ is shiftier, Thompson has more speed.

Looking forward to seeing him in action next week...another goodie in the preseason cookie jar.

Thompson is playin against the scrubs, but I am liking this guy. But the only way he is beating Jones out is in a foot race. Jones will be the starter, but if Thompson goes to the practice squad he is gone. 64 yds tonight, the cat is out of the bag.
