All I wanted was a little feedback, a few well though out opinions from some of the respected members of this forum and you would think that I asked to appeal the constitution of the United States of America.

Hopefully this forum doesn’t turn into another disaster like many of us have migrated from in the first place.

IT WAS JUST A QUESTION

Your question wasn't any more stupid than posters who thought the Cowboys were going 10-6 last year based on Parcells' first year.

Some posters assume God dumped the repository knowledge of Cowboys football and NFL history into their brains and feel it gives them the right to criticize anyone who has an unconventional position or asks an unconventional question.

Just consider them no-lifers and move on.

I'm interested to see what this guy has, Saladin. Nothing is impossible. But if he were to play on the level that JJ plays on then I see no reason why he wouldn't get some carries. I'm kind of hoping for a 3 headed monster-type running game anyways. I can't wait to see this guy in action come preseason.

After the responses you've recieved, it would be funny to see though. But I am of the opinion that he won't beat him out, but he could share some of the carries. That said, let the best man win.

I remember many in here thought that ReShard Lee had a chance to be our starting RB for years to come.

I was one of the ones that thought he had an upside ... but not for years to come ...

Guess what everyone? Parcells called me today and I have a tryout for the FS spot! Can you believe it? Do you all think I have a chance to beat out Davis?

Nah, you're too heavy for that spot. :D

OMG. Relax. The guy asked a question. I am positive most of the posters flogging this guy have made at least one post that others thought were wrong. Back down... It's a friggin forum. The whole point is to air your thoughts. There have been many cases of players being 1st round busts, 2nd round busts, and even one year wonders. The question he posted may not mirror your hopes and dreams, but it deserves more respect than you are giving it.

I agree here, Wimbo. Not a lot of people have seen this guy play. I know I haven't. But he's big and fast and no one really knows what the guy plays like.

I'd like for someone to provide a little more information on this guy. And some clips would be nice, but I know that's a lot to ask.

TT passing JJ on the depth chart? Now wasn't JJ supposed to be "the great Julius Jones" already? :p: So what's greater than great?

Let's not forget that A-train backed up Julius' brother who is a horrid NFL RB ...

Thomas Jones isn't that bad. He had a breakout season last year on a crappy Bears team. 948 yds 4 ypc and 7 td isn't spectacular, but there are alot worse tailbacks in the league than Julius' brother. It's nice to know talent runs in the family.

I'm not sure I would have signed my name to this idea. That like saying that Sherman Williams had a chance to take Emmitt Smith's starting job in 1993. By the way, Emmitt will be forever immortalized in the Hall of Fame. Sherman Williams will be forever incarcerrted in the halls of the state pen.

I'm lost....What does that statemant mean?

It was a hypothetical question that IMO was meant to create something to talk about.

Roy to FS

Hey genius, guess what? Roy Williams has been playing FS since he got here.

What's funny about this? I'd like to hear you elaborate.

LA sat out intentionally so young guys can play

Hilarious. I forget LA needs all the practice he can get.

Beri-o to SS

That's his profile ... a SS

Saladin, I don't know anything about Thompson, a complete mystery to me - if he has amazing moves, speed, stamina..but you obviously have enough background on him, or have seen him in college enough to have dared pose the question, LOL, so the fact you even asked it leads me to believe you think the kid has talent.

He could demonstrate something special this summer, in the way of vision, or cutting or juking, to make Bill sit up and notice. But he won't get enough carries to do the things he would need to do get into a competition with JJ..won't have a shot at learning enough about blitz pick ups or blocking, for instance, which are always critical to Bill. And to compete with JJ he would have to demonstrate a lot of stamina, would have to end the camp with "feature back' written all over him, not change of pace back, which it right now sounds like he's slated for. He'll be playing behind second and first team olinemen this summer, against the same level of defenders. Whatever good he shows will get immediately "qualified", even a few startling good runs will get 'put in perspective', and perhaps, too much so.

I doubt he gets anywhere near the game time or even practice snaps for that shot at competing with JJ. His character, stamina, heart, leadership. like his total package of physical ability, will have to show itself over time. He won't get the immediate attention a high round pick gets. For there to be any shot at unseating Jones as a feature back..he needs to pass the first hurdle, making the final 53.

But he certainly has as chancee to impress as a runner, on that pure talent you mentioned that does show itself early. Luckily for him. Bill has an excellent eye for that talent..and if the kid has enough, I doubt he will even risk him to the ps.

Some of the responses here were out there..more so than your question, imo. But I think many of us just have no idea what this kid is about, so the implication he is THAT good sounds a bit outlandish.

But you never know..good luck to him!

Let's just say that I am pretty familiar with the San Jose St Campus ;)

And to add to what you so eloquently stated, if T. Thompson is every bit the athlete and RB as J. Jones, and most importantly, if he can handle his responsibilities in the passing game (routes and pass protection) then why not?

I think that more than anything this thread reflects how spoiled Cowboy fans have been with the RB position. So now that the "torch" has been passed to JJ he can do no wrong and for most it seems that there isn't a chance in hell that he can be supplanted by an undrafted rookie FA who only played one year of D1 ball. And if he (T.T.) were to do just that then it means that J.J. wasn't that good to begin with?

Could it be that the Cowboys have two very talented RB's?

I'm as big of a J. Jones fan as anyone but maybe; just maybe the Cowboys have finally found a diamond in the rough. Maybe not...but I thought that it was worthy enough to discuss.
