Can we afford Dak?

Hell no we can't afford him. We can't afford 3 more years of mediocrity. The cost of Dak is not just his absurd self value but that he will not get the cowboys over the hump when it's time for a top 5 QB or paid like a top 5 QB, to carry the team when it needs it.

How can we afford Dak when we are already grossly overpaying for an injured offensive line, a WR, a RB, a DE and a one-foot LB?

Evidently, we can't afford Dak, in view of his previous demands. If he gets what he's demanding, the team could likely suffer. It's a problem but it might possibly have been avoided if Jerry and Stephen had been more adept at negotiating. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to have been the case.

Given that the salary cap will drop to $175 Million, it will be interesting to see if the cowboys can afford to pay Dak his $37 million Franchise Tag. If he doesn't sign a deal that allows the team to lessen the cost for this year, the team would be hard pressed to not have to release some players just to say under the $175 Million cap.

I think Dallas can handle a long term deal easier than 37 mill in one lump sum next year when the cap will be less than it was initially set to be. Cap may be down this coming season but is projected to be much higher beyond next season because of new TV contract that will be in place.

A new QB means loads of new jersey sales. Jerry needs to make up for not having Jerryworld full in recent months.

Let’s hope not. I want to win another SB.

If the Rams were willing to give up two future first-round picks, a third-round pick this year, & Goff to land Stafford, what would a team be willing to pay Dak on the open market?

The simple answer is a lot. Probably $40 million+ a season & that’s terrible news for Jerry & company!

Of course they can afford him. But they're just terrible at this negotiating thing.

Cowboys lowball Dak compared to current market value.
Dak says no.
Market value goes up.

Rinse and repeat.

A question for those Dak lovers, do you know if there is a reliable source, where it is said that another team's interest in Dak has been shown? since many here say that Dak is better than Stafford, seeing when he was given by Stafford (2 first rounds a 3rd round and apart a QB number one overall selection) besides several teams were interested in him also offering a lot for him; if Dak is supposedly better than Stafford, why hasn't he piqued Stafford's interest?
