Can we afford to trade a 1 for Jamal Adams?

Get the DT at 17, then CB and S on day 2. Unless you get a FA vet.

Don't over complicate it. Get a dominant DL and the rest of the defense looks and plays better.

The economics of bringing in Adams, plus the loss of resources makes the deal too much for my liking...and I've talking about Adams since he was at Hebron High School.

2¢ Jamal has some CB feet.

Draft well and sign decent to good FAs...build the team the right way.

Adams is way better than Delpit, not close imo.i am leaning towards not trading for Adams. We need a dramatic overhaul on the Dline, cant waste top picks on a SS.
But, a good strong safety can help cure many of the ill's this D suffers from. One of the safeties has to run the D. Right now, neither of ours do.

In Nolan’s presumptive hybrid 4-3 defense that is more pressure-based, Jamal Adams would be the perfect playmaking SS, with Woods the ballhawking FS. No doubt, if he’s still on the market, Jets will ask for our 1. But with the CB and DT talent available at 17, and likely losing Byron and Maliek, and also having to pay Adams soon, can we afford to trade? I doubt it, but I guess it also depends on free agency targets at S, CB, DT. Thoughts?

Jets will want MORE than just a 1st round pick. Cowboys need more draft picks, not less with 26 free agents. If Dallas does trade for Adams, you have to pay the guy and he will want BIG cash, like Top 5 safety cash.

Why trade a 1st when we can draft a guy in the first? Besides J.Adams playing size and style has a clone in Patrick Nelson safety from SMU. We can get Nelson in the fifth of the upcoming draft.
Yeah. easy to fixate on a guy like Adams but you can find a satisfactory player in draft or FA that doesn't require the resources Adams would.

Not the best idea with Dallas' current cap situation. Dak, Amari, Byron etc lots of potential FAs coming up.

Completely ignoring safety is a bad idea which is what the FO has done, but probably finding the middle ground is ideal rather than giving up a 1st rounder for one. They are still very injury prone and a player that is injured doesn't help you at all. 2nd to 4th should be the target rounds for good value.

It all depends on how much a particular scheme values the SS position. If SS is a critical position in your scheme, then you should be willing to give up a 1st for Adams.

Just saying we can't pay everyone big money. Solid player can get the job done for less.

Yes if McCarthy thinks the team can win now,,, no if he thinks Dak may take a while to learn the new offense.

I just don’t think he’s worth it for the production you get.

If Byron walks I think we probably need to be in the cornerback market anyways.
He brings to much to a team hes well worth it

I think we need a guy that makes explosive plays with our first round pick and I think this guy is mostly hype when you look at his productivity and not a difference between winning and losing..

Id rather have traded for Minkah Fitzpatrick over Adams.

You know for sure you'll get his leadership and play making ability in the draft this year...?

Since when can we get Afams for a #1?...Last year Jets wanted a starting oline player & 2 #1s....so this is a dumb thread

Im sure he’s a great leader but his play making “ability” is not all that great.

Id rather not spend a 1 on a strong safety. There is a reason the NFL doesn’t value his position but in Dallas we pay RBs 15 mill a year so who knows.

I'd honestly take his getting everybody lined up making sure tackles that matter getting Ints that come his way more than we have and allowing woods to roam at FS. His voice on the field passuin and leadership can lead to more from the other players imo. But I hear what your saying though. Not many ed reeds of the world out there

Rams - Gurley deal looks terrible

Vikings - Good player but already has torn his knee

Titans - They’ve had Henry forever and finally started using him this year. I’m not sold he gets a mega deal.

We tried to trade for Adams before the season began but the price was too high, I'm sure the Jets havent lowered their asking price and our FO i not willing to pay the asking price. Pipe dream like the ET to Dallas endless threads.
