I can’t watch another year of Dalton. Can’t do it.....

It is tough to watch. Andy takes the joy out of watching the offense.

Isn’t this the guy that thought Brad Kaaya and some other NFL bust would be good in the NFL?
The arrogance is next level.
The question is. Does Mike McCarthy see Trey Lance. And say “I can develop him into a star”
If our head coach, who knows how to develop a QB, says he believes he can develop Lance. Then I am fine with them taking the chance on him.
But man a top 10 pick on a QB prospect that raw is certainly, certainly a risky proposition.
Career Passing Attempts of Recent QB Prospects
1,349 - Mahomes
1,138 - Lawerence
1,125 - Jordan Love
945 - Joe Burrow
837 - Z. Wilson
618 - Fields
556 - Mac Jones
288 - T. Lance
No I said their game translated over better to the NFL meaning they played in pro style systems in college.
This was before NFL started running college offenses.
I’ve missed on QBs and I’ll miss on more.. Just like the guys who select them.
Also, I’m not anti Trey Lance.. This is a discussion to try and figure him out.
The volume is concerning but it wouldn’t be as big of a deal if I saw more throws where a WR is breaking out of his route and the ball is delivered on time or some tight window intermediate throws.
His “great throws” are usually down field with him dropping the ball in a bucket.
I want to see some 3rd and 7 and hit his guy in coverage for 8.
But....
He’s definitely got tools but my question is do those tools validate a top 10 pick?
I see people putting him ahead of Fields and while I think Fields has a lower ceiling I do think he has a much higher floor.
He’s just such a great athlete and he’s also smart with the football.
For me, the dearth of throws to analyze is concerning. When factor in the competition level, the offensive scheme, and limited development (basically one year of college football) it has all the trappings of potential failure.
It would be like placing the highest bid (i.e. high draft pick) on a home when all you’ve seen was the 120 sq. ft. bathroom (i.e. 288 pass attempts).

What? We have Gilbert Grape and his little sidekick The Nooch.Lance needs the Mahomes 2017 treatment IMO. He has to sit and develop for a year IMO. He could be a good trade up option for a team like Pittsburgh, who can afford to sit him and still have a QB. I dont think he is a great option for us if we move on from Dak
Not in the first - 2nd at highest. However, he reminds me a ton of our currently hobbled QB.I think he looks like a really good prospect.
Not perfect obviously, but if you need a QB, he's worth a gamble in the first round
And this is how a team ends up in the Goff and Wentz situation. Unfortunately, it’s the way of the NFL currently. Teams are having to take on underclassmen with little experience and thrust them into a significant position right away. Essentially, the experience these guys should get in college is happening the first couple if years in the NFL.1 thing we need to keep in mind...
He’s 19 years old in most of the games we get to see him play in.
So there is a lot of projection here and his ability displayed as a 19 year old is really good.
If he played in college for 4 years then things may look a lot different.

I'm all for drafting a QB at 10.
As long as he's a future elite NFL quarterback.
Not for just the sake of drafting a QB.
LOL This may be the cherry on top of dumb things you have said. So no matter the talent of the QB its ok as long as they are cheap? You are out to lunch. Go look at 27 other teams in this league and what they would do for a top QB. You need to stop with this joke of an argument. You would rather have a cheap QB then Patrick Mahomes, Aaron Rodgers. Makes total sense.I think that’s the wrong way to look at it.
I think having a QB playing for cheap can be just as good as having an elite QB.
When you start paying the fringe types like they are elite is when you run into trouble imo.
Lance is all projection.. His skill set right now is deep throws and using his legs.. Can he develop an in between game is the big question.

Lets play your game of, well if they arent good we draft another one. Now the defense we have created needs to be paid and guess what. The QB sucks still. Now we are wasting their talent because we have no QB. It goes both ways man. Come on.
I wouldn't draft Lance. I wouldn't sign Dak.I think that’s the wrong way to look at it.

In your own mind maybe lol. Sure bud. Keep it up. Mainstream to me seems to be a lot of the talking heads having Dak in the top 10. Even top 6. and if that's the case. He is ELITE. He isn't elite in your mind. But then again. You said Mahomes and Watson weren't either so your ability to judge a QB needs to be questioned at every turn.I’m keeping elite quarterbacks. I don’t know how many times I have to say that.
The evidence is mounting up in my favor of what happens when you pay a Dak Prescott type of QB and my opinion is slowly becoming mainstream.
