This season left a bad taste. It was worst than those 5-11 years if you ask me. I think that's why there's been a lot of bashing I know I'm guilty of it. After the draft I'm done talking about last season.

You should read more, I have seen prediction of 5-11 to 8-8 for this upcoming season.
You think 8-8 is an unrealistic prediction?

If your expectation are low then 8-8 may be just right. This team has also gone 13-3 started off this past season well then hit some big injuries on the line lost 2 RB, a QB and a TE with busted ribs while he was still playing it clearly had an effect and I did not even mention that our top CB missed the 1st part of the season. Now I know to expect "injuries are not an excuse" fine but I think a fewer of these injuries we would have had a better showing last season. Unless you don't think there is any difference between a starter and a backup?
I'll keep that in mind. I wasn't aware the Cowboys were the only team to suffer injuries.

Given what we know today, 8-8 seems very realistic. If a couple of card call the right way then perhaps 9-7 happens. As it stands right now, 8-8 is staring us all right in the collective mugs.

Why do we talk about our players so bad, were getting worst than the skins fans, at least they bash maybe 1 or 2 of their players, we bash everyone except Ware and Witten. We talk bad about Romo, Austin, Crayton, RW, Flo, Hamlin, Ellis, so on and so on...I mean this is the off season, last season is over, Romo will be our QB, now support him and stop bringing him down all the time, even I have been caught up talking negative about a couple players...

TO is gone, lets support Austin, we know he's no TO and may never amount to anything, but hey lets give him a shot, never know.. I'll be happy with 3 catches a game sometimes 4 or 5, meaning he might grab 40 to 50 passes.

This thread is just to say we talk bad about our team, just look at the threads and see for urself......

Like I said even over at Extreme they have hope, we have panic and expect to win just because we are America's team, which is not gonna happen...

Boy I couldn't imagine if we had the internet when we went 1-15, Aikman and Irvin would have been blasted so hard they would have asked to be traded....... joke....

Blast away......And come with a better answer than "If you dont want to here negative comments, don't open thread or respond" that's a cop out......

It comes with being a fan bro. Sometimes when things aren't as good as fans think they should be they have to lash out at something. It's no biggy though. Yeah they're hard on them, yeah they bash them, yeah sometimes people say things on here that just really makes you scratch your head but the bottom line is they're still rooting for those players to step it up and play big and get us where we want to be.

First of all The players dont give a rats about what We the fans say on message boards or in our living rooms.

I bash alot of players on our team, but that doesnt mean I dont have hope. I say it how I see it. I'm not going to start being nice because people can't handle it.

I did not say we were, hell New England coming off a SB lost their star QB and it had no effect on them now did it? Oh yeah they too did not even make the playoffs. Every team out there takes injuries I don't dispute that but teams who start taking a lot of key injuries tends not to do well imagine that.

If Romo doesn't miss three games we win at least 10 games, if not 11. The Rams and Giants losses were direct effects of absolutely terrible QB play that allowed those teams to get turnovers, short fields, and run up leads.

I don't believe that happens with Romo in there.

8-8 only seems possible, to me, if we lose Romo for a significant amount of time along with another rash of injuries to major contributors. If we can stay realitively healthy, and keep Romo healthy for sure, I see no reason why we aren't a 10+ win team.

I will admit that while I am over the Seattle Bobble and the 13-3/one and done consecutive seasons... I am well aware of our ineffectiveness on many levels.

Thats all I am saying.

Last year never really felt right so 9-7 was like a blurrr....

It's a defense mechanism.

Some fans can't take the pain and it's as simple as that.

Others are so hurt by last years failing that they see optimisim or positive talk about this club as "undeserving". How dare you speak well of this club, don't you know how bad they hurt me last season. They must be punished for that.

I'm a well documented optimist on this site. But I also look at this objectively and try to take the emotion out of it.

We have some hurdles.

But we have talent. Tons of it. We have talented starters and back-ups. We have an inordinate number of players who would make most top 5 or top 10 position lists.

The biggest hurdle is getting the most out of that talent. The current coaching staff had failed up to this point. That doesn't have to happen in 2009.

NE suffered the loss of their best player for the entire season, save a dozen plays or so, lost several key starters, and still went 11-5. They were - I think - the first 11-5 team to miss the playoffs under the current format.

The Ravens lost more games to starters than any other NFL team, and lost in a close game in the AFC championship.

On the other hand, the Cowboys lost their QB for 3 games and finished the season with 20 of 22 starters on the field.

Yes, I can see how Cowboy fans would want to blame the 2008 failure on injuries.

We're going to have injuries this season also. Some of them will be to key players. 2008 was not an aberration. The Cowboys experienced a pretty normal amount of injuries, relatively speaking. It may very well be worse in 2009, especially along our greying OL.

After the 2008 debacle, the team should feel they owe the fans. They deserve all the negativity they get from all forums after the gutless way they played much of 2008 with special emphasis on the Rams, Ravens (last few minutes), and the Philly game to close out.

When the Lions show more heart and effort in losing the game that made them go 0-16 than the 2008 Cowboys did with a playoff spot on the line, then youd deserve to get yelled at until you redeem yourself.

A team that hasn't won a playoff game in over a decade has fair weather fans? That equation doesn't add up.

This is a great post, DT.

But it's not the injuries that lost us the games. At least in part it was the fact that our backups were unprepared or unable to step in and play at a high level. This isn't a cop-out b/c depth and preparation are key to winning in the NFL.

We had starters who didn't perform well, too.

That said, that's no excuse for the massive and embarrassing overreaction of the weaker part of our fan base this offseason. It's possible to improve depth and preparation, upgrade key starters and improve the coaching staff without bashing senselessly every player on the roster not named Demarcus Ware.
