Can we talk about the Tush Push?

If they are going to run that play, then they need to put Tyler Smith at center for that snap.

Just hold the ball against Tyler Smith's backside and it's guaranteed to get a yard. After that attempt vs the Chargers, he was further forward than anybody else in the pile. He head was past the feet of all the defenders...
Biadasz may be the least stout of all the Cowboys offensive linemen so running behind him when you have signaled to the defense by your formation that is where you are going is foolish. Tyler and Tyron both got push on that play but unfortunately Biadasz got shoved backwards and Dak had not room to go forward. I didn't like the push by the two RB either. It was weak. That play works for the Eagles because they have Travis Kelce who is a perennial all-pro because he actually deserves it.

The Eagles are the best "sneaking" team in league history....because they have a HOF center that is kind of squatty and can easily get real low, as well as probowl guard and tackles....and the strongest QB in the league.

Why do teams just think they can copy that?

It's like saying "hey, let's just set up a West Coast passing attack like the 1989 forty niners had"

Personnel matters.

..they gotta work on it. I would believe if common sense plays into it.

Get a bigger guy, behind Dak to help drive the pile.

Then again, I just work for UPS. ;)..

It's not successful (for the Eagles) because of the size or strength of the Center.
Jason Kelce is one of the smallest centers in the league.
It works due to leverage. Look how low Kelce gets, in fact the entire offensive line gets so low, they get under the defense and use their legs to create push. Like a 6 man squat.
It also helps that Hurts can squat 600 pounds.
Our attempt in the Chargers game was embarrassing.
It looked like we practiced it 2 or 3 times and felt we had it.
I suppose the Eagles practice it often and have perfected it.
If we are going to do it (and we should), we need to practice it and perfect it.
Success is dependent upon complete unified force power at single explosion point. That is unified power all together. That is not really a trait of Dallas linemen, offensively. More of a defensive lineman strength but size is the dominant feature that must be maintained. A rugby strum rehearsal would unify and strength the single force reference point mentally.

I agree. And also Hurts is a big part of it as well. Like you said the guy squats 600 pounds. Legs like tree trunks. I'd only do the Tush push on 4th and inches. 4th and a yard.....teams are failing doing it but the Eagles.

Teams will fail at it because they don't have the personnel to do it. Hopefully Cowboys realize that.

I have a better solution for the Cowboys- don't use that play.

The Eagles have mastered it while other teams have not. All the Cowboys did in LA Monday Night was compress the entire defense into the one area they were trying to run Dak.

They would have had a better chance on that 4th and 1 by just running Dak on a QB sneak out of a normal formation.

I still believe that we should use someone other than Dak at QB on those plays. Maybe we want to keep the pass threat there, but I'd line up Luepke as the QB to run it. I also might use linemen to do the pushing. The defense knows what's coming, so if you are going to do it, give yourself the best shot at succeeding.

Or just hand it off to Luepke to get one yard instead of trying to copycat something other teams do.

I think the problem isn't using it, but like you said, the Eagles have mastered it. It can be an almost unstoppable play if you put in the time and effort to make sure you have the right personnel out there to run it.

Why try to pick up a yard or inches by taking a step back to hand off the ball? That's never really made sense to me. Get up there behind your big ol' linemen and go forward, not backward. It bugged me for years that we never seemed to use the QB sneak. Create your version of the sneak or tush push and perfect it.

Dallas and Dak has been successful in the conventional QB sneak over the years. They should just stick to that. By lining up in that formation. The defense can stack the middle. Defenses are learning how to defend it better.
I has not worked every time for Philly this year as it seemed to last year.

Traditional formation, the defense has to respect that it could be a handoff or pass or QB sneak.

It would also help if the guys behind Dak were push, rather than seeming to just hold onto him and keep pace.
