Can you imagine Linehan replacing Kubiak, and Romo following?

They're gonna call Dak the King Slayer or the Legend Killer. This year he's gonna beat Brady and the Patriots in the Super Bowl and Brady's career will fall off a cliff starting next year. And next year he's gonna beat Romo and the Broncos in the Super Bowl and Romo's career will be over after that. Good night. Who's next?
I love you, man!

A trade, a release or a retirement all save the same amount of money-14m and cap space-5.1m

A June 1st designation for any of the above would save another 8.9m in cap space but it wouldn't be available until June 2nd

Tony will redo his contract and stay as the backup for 5m a year or he will get traded to another team and get 14m a year

Of course, there's some intriguing risk for Tony, in that, you might just see another 2016 draft pick squeeze you out there, too. There's an argument that says you want to find a team/situation where there's no clear and present danger in a prodigy taking over.

If this were to happen with Linehan, I'm on the phone to Mike McCoy pronto as a replacement.

Interesting. Wonder if Wade gets any consideration. His defense really won the SB for Elway. Tony might still be interested.
Wade is an excellent defensive coordinator. Not so much as a head coach. That's been proven. I guarantee Elway finds the right guy.

It would be sad to see Tony go but there's a handful of members here that would LOVE to see travel with him..

It depends. A June 1 release saves quite a bit more than trading him.

depends on what we can get in a trade, somebody already posted in here that a trade would save $5 mil, combine that with a 3rd round or better draft pick and ill take that over the $14 mil saved in a post June 1 cut......

Agreed. If it's at least a 3rd rounder, I'd take the trade. Anything less and I think releasing may be a better option.

Trade per Overthecap.com = $5m cap savings plus some throw-in draft pick probably

Release post June 1 (which doesn't technically have to be done post June 1 anymore, from what I understand) = $14m cap savings

Or keep him and have the number 1 position on the team a huge strength. I would still rather keep him.

Fwiw, maybe nothing, I've yet to hear anyone in the media think he could garner anything better than a 5th, given his age, injury history and salary. Fwiw, maybe nothing, I have to agree.

yep....And if the Jones' cant get at least a 3rd for Romo when the sheagles got a 1st for Bradford then something is very very wrong lol.....Bradford is just as injury prone as Tony, just younger....but TR is also still better and by far.....

Denver and Houston are the two situations that scare me if Romo ends up in either spot. Both teams are a QB away and Romo is one of the best in the history of the game. For Romo's sake, I would love to see him win a SB but not at our expense.

I would put my money on Kyle Shanahan or Vance Joseph who they almost hired 2 years ago.

I can. Total conjecture, of course. But you have to admit, it makes some sense.

I know we want to do the right thing for Romo, but I hope Jerry just doesnt give him away. For the 5 million cap savings that could easily be spent on a lesser backup. Would love for the Cowboys to get a 2nd rounder, with conditions possibly turning into a first rounder for playing x percent of snaps and making the pro bowl, etc. Thats a dream scenario, but for a team like the Broncos that may be worth it if it gets them back into contention.
