I am going into my 47th year as a Cowboys Fan, and as such i remember guys I rooted for on this team that did stuff that would make TO's tantrums seem like a church social, Lantz Rentzel just to name one, look him up it will make u realize that during the Landry years there werent many saints and whole lot of sinners defending that Star................

but they did defend the star and as long as they are on this team they are Dallas Cowboys, i dont give a fiddlers dam where they came from or where they are going afterwards, not saying i havent missed many and will miss some in the future when they are gone, but their time here they are Cowboys, if u cant handle that then you are doing every one a favor by leaving and good ridance to you.................

since the dawn of the NFL players have come and gone, it will always be so,some i have hated on other teams i rooted for when they came to Dallas, not because of who they were, but because they were a Dallas Cowboy, hence the titlle Dallas Cowboys Fan, as you apparently are not, then why the hell go on about it just leave...................

but if i was a betting man, and i am, i would bet the farm this is just i need some attention dribble, and come preseason you will be right where you always have been if ever were for 27 years, and that is watching America's Team the Dallas Cowboys, with its new reciever TO, if not we will try to get along without you somehow lmao, what bs.............................

I am disgusted with the talk on this board, going on and on as if the Cowboys have not made a colossal blunder this offseason.

Jerry Jones sold out all the Cowboys self-respect by groveling at the feet of t.o., the Neanderthal thug, punk and self-absorbed crybaby who has already destroyed 2 NFL teams. There are not adequate words to describe the free-fall the franchise has taken by pursuing such a despicable human being. El Dorado has no business being in the NFL whatsoever, based completely on his childish attitude and unprecedented selfishness. One who has the ability to spit on teammates who welcomed him with open arms two years earlier. His selfishness is coupled with the ability to call OTHERS classless, which only adds to his delusion of the world he lives in. I can imagine little else that is more repulsive. But that would be seeing this idiot with a Super Bowl trophy in his hand, and wearing a Dallas jersey.

I am not watching ANY Dallas games until that 49er and Eagle is out of the Cowboys roster forever.

The other thing that bothers me pales in comparison to the aforementioned disaster. The entire roster, excluding Greg Ellis, has had a swapout in the last 5 years, and the roster continues to churn faster and faster. If you buy a jersey of any player on the Cowboys, there’s a 50% likelihood or greater that he’ll be gone within 5 years. If recent history is any indication, there is a 98% chance he’ll be gone in 5 years. The only safe bet is to buy a jersey of a player whose NFL career is over. The NFL has left the diehard fan in favor of the fantasy football fan who wants a pass by this quarterback to that receiver for a touchdown AGAINST his hometown team. It’s all about player moves and big money. Loyalty, teamwork and improving player skill is out the window. Parity reigns, upsets mean nothing, because there is no powerhouse to have an upset over. There are no loveable underdogs, there are no champions, there are no dynasties. Super Bowl winners only win because some team has to, not because they earned it. No team today would have a chance against any of the teams of 10 and 15 years ago. Skill has taken a major nosedive in addition to all the other problems. Big money is doing it’s best to ruin the football that I grew up with as a kid. I am not contributing to that crap anymore, no NFL Sunday ticket, no NFL channel, no hats, no jerseys NOTHING! I REFUSE TO WATCH!

The only thing I can think of is that the rest of my Dallas Cowboy fan friends have not stopped and noticed all the things that have happened. Because it is not acceptable at all!

Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

I really don't understand this stand.

Yes, Owens is selfish, self-absorbed, childish, etc., but why would him winning a Super Bowl trophy with Dallas bother you anymore than Irvin winning one ... or Leon Lett ... or any of the Cowboys who helped give Dallas a reputation in the 1990s of being full of criminals?

Do you rail against those players and disown their accomplishments as Cowboys, or is your anger saved only for players who have committed lesser true injustices?

IMO, you should have stopped being a Cowboys fan a long time ago if your criteria is rooting for a team without "problem" players.

If I hadn't been so tired last night, this is exactly what I would have said.

Except, I may have had something to say about radioactive jellyfish.

Oh well.....I guess we'll never understand how standing on a star is worse than rocks and blow, while actually wearing the star. It's a mystery.

I am more loyal to the star than you are, because no one can take it away from me. You'll allow it to be taken pretty easily. I'm sorry, that's just the truth in bare naked color.

This sounds kinky.

There were 1,000 things I was upset about following that San Francisco game, and TO standing on the star was at the very bottom of the list. It was a completely gutless, neutered performance by the team. It perfectly symbolized what I think was an era of a timid head coach leading a bunch of timid players. Touchdown celebrations are like running up the score ... if you don't like it, don't let them do it to you. George Teague was no hero of mine because he pushed TO after getting beaten like a rented mule for the entire afternoon. The Cowboys disgraced the star that day.

Out o' the park.

Altho I was proud of Teague, a little. The Cowboys performance was far more embarassing than anything TO did.

NFL franchises are in the business of winning. I dont like the move, but I understand the reasoning. If you care about morality and loyalty stick to college ball (which is better than the NFL IMO for the reasons mentioned)

Are you serious. The only difference between the NFL and College football is that in the NFL, the money is exchanged in public.

I like college football, but I'm not a fool.

All I would say to Nathlt, the original author of this thread, is that be careful who you believe. Don't automatically take "the Eagles" side of the story. Look at what you saw on the field, take into account what the Eagles did in regard to contract extensions, and at least buy or borrow Owens book and get his side of the story. Owens will not get fair treatment by the media. And remember, there are a lot of people, even people who do not like Owens, who will agree that he does not fabricate.

Remember, before you automatically believe McNabb, the medias golden boy, get both sides of the story. Owens is a Cowboys now, at least get his side before you automatically believe the Eagles.

Not to be a jerk.

But didn't you post practically same the thing about a month ago?
And if you can't watch the games, if you can't follow the cowboys, then why are you coming on a cowboys message board ranting and raving?

As one who was opposed to TO coming to Dallas what is done is done, all I hope for at this stage is that TO keeps it undercontrol and just go out and play the games. If he can do that then I will have no problem with TO as a member of the team.

Prepare to be flamed by the apologists. Don't you realize that TO is a great guy now and everything is forgiven??

I personally don't like To and wished we never signed him.

HOWEVER....I cheer for the Dallas Cowboys, not the Terrell Owens.

One player will not keep me from watching the Cowboys and rude or not I think that anyone that let's one player keep them from watching the cowboys needs an enema as they are being a little too anal.

I knew you were waiting for me, Big49erFan5, I need to blow off some steam! You've obviously gotten over 49er players desecrating the star.

Seriously, if you harbor feelings about "desecrating the star", you've lost all perspective on life.

not only do i not think it was a mistake, i think this is going to work out far better than any us could have ever dreamed.

i believe he will play all 3 years here, and be very successful. maybe he'll even finish his career here.

look, i'm not exactly fond of T.O. either, and he has A LOT to prove to us as a dallas cowboy. but i love jerry jones for making the move. As a fan, how can you not respect an owner who makes brazen moves to help the team win?

we need a guy like T.O., ON THE FIELD, and jerry got him.

As a fan, i'm rooting for him.

Besides....HOW GREAT will this be, if he behaves AND wins. it will drive philadelphia insane.

if he lets us down, then we just go back to hating him and his NFL career will likely be finished, anyways.

it really is as simple as that.

Oh yes, I remember you, the guy who said that he was through with the Cowboys if they signed TO. Well, many said it and you are the only person that I know who followed through with it, so props on that.

Of course, I also believe that you are completely misguided. I was not a fan of TO myself, but we root for the star around these parts and not the players. Dallas Cowboys football is one of my passions, and there is no one player signing that could ever make me turn away from the boys.

On top of all that, of course, you are wrong about what adding TO will do to (or should I say "for") this franchise. I wasn't crazy about signing Charles Haley either, another malcontent from the hated 49ers, and felt even worse about signing Deion Sanders, but both put the team over the top for their 90's Superbowl run. This is no different at all.

Cowboys in the past who were thugs and punks were mostly role players who didn't last very long.

Really? You mean those short timers like Henderson, Irvin, Newton, Tuinei (limitedly), Eric Williams (might not have been in trouble with the law, but was certainly a distraction), Deion (who can forget him running over the little kid in his Mercedes golf cart), an the list goes on.

I read the first four pages of this before I decided to start scanning. I think I put to much into your little venting over one player.

My take... when he starts scoring TDs or Witten, Glenn, et al., begin scoring more because TO demands double coverage, I bet your tune changes some. If it doesn't, you really weren't a Cowboy fan to begin with. I don't care how long you say you've been a fan. That's like being and American, seeing someone burn the flag and then decide you're moving to Mexico because you didn't like that and couldn't believe the government would let it happen. Shear idiocy.

You are entitled to your opinion and I can respect your decision to not like TO. But, you arguments are loose, at best. So what if TO is the difference and the Boys make it to the dance... are you finally going to creep back into the Cowboys life after shunning them for an entire season and hope they win, or will you hope they lose just so TO won't get the recognition of being the difference? Just a hypothetical.

Root for the Blue and Silver. I really don't care who you do or don't like, but when you stop watching the franchise, you're sending the message that you don't like the Boys. Plain and simple.
