You know, had TO literally Najeh'ed on the star, I would have been much more offended than I was that day (and I was offended as it was).

I think he did when he saw Teague coming.

Along with that add the 10,000 threads that gripe about the media not giving TO a clean slate. He wants a clean slate, own up to his problems instead of blaming everyone else but himself!

I hated the signing (Still do), will cheer the star but never the player in the jersey, and yes Jones sold out, just like he did in 95. Let us hope this team doesn't repeat the slide that occured in the years afterwards.
He sold out when he fired Landry and hired Jimmy Johnson too.

Big moves like signing Deion, trading for Haley, trading away Walker, drafting Troy, hiring Parcells, Johnson, Switzer and whoever else are gonna be lauded by some and hated by others.

Outside of moving the franchise away from the metroplex nothing could make me stop watching or caring about the Cowboys. Been plenty of players I'd have rather not had on the roster and a few I ended up being wrong about.

TO is the kind of guy that can put you over the top. In a fairly even NFCE he's a weapon I love having.

Wow....a guy quitting on a team because of one player.

Sounds an awful lot like all those Hollywood types that said they'd leave the country if GWBush was elected president (Johnny Depp--real big loss there).

Loyalty is sticking by your team through thick and thin. If my daughter came in one night in a Commander's shirt, I'd be upset with her, but I'd still love her.

Why?

Because she's my daughter.

I was against TO coming here. I'm still not crazy about it. I probably will hate having him.....now, if we start winning....well then, I'll have to change my mind.

I'm a Cowboy fan.....Nearly everyone on this board is a Cowboy fan....I can't change the fact. Changing from being a Cowboy fan isn't like changing my haircolor...It'd be more like a sex-change.....you'd have to threaten castration to get me to change.

TO joining the team isn't close to castration.

I am disgusted with the talk on this board, going on and on as if the Cowboys have not made a colossal blunder this offseason.

Jerry Jones sold out all the Cowboys self-respect by groveling at the feet of t.o., the Neanderthal thug, punk and self-absorbed crybaby who has already destroyed 2 NFL teams. There are not adequate words to describe the free-fall the franchise has taken by pursuing such a despicable human being. El Dorado has no business being in the NFL whatsoever, based completely on his childish attitude and unprecedented selfishness. One who has the ability to spit on teammates who welcomed him with open arms two years earlier. His selfishness is coupled with the ability to call OTHERS classless, which only adds to his delusion of the world he lives in. I can imagine little else that is more repulsive. But that would be seeing this idiot with a Super Bowl trophy in his hand, and wearing a Dallas jersey.

I am not watching ANY Dallas games until that 49er and Eagle is out of the Cowboys roster forever.

The other thing that bothers me pales in comparison to the aforementioned disaster. The entire roster, excluding Greg Ellis, has had a swapout in the last 5 years, and the roster continues to churn faster and faster. If you buy a jersey of any player on the Cowboys, there’s a 50% likelihood or greater that he’ll be gone within 5 years. If recent history is any indication, there is a 98% chance he’ll be gone in 5 years. The only safe bet is to buy a jersey of a player whose NFL career is over. The NFL has left the diehard fan in favor of the fantasy football fan who wants a pass by this quarterback to that receiver for a touchdown AGAINST his hometown team. It’s all about player moves and big money. Loyalty, teamwork and improving player skill is out the window. Parity reigns, upsets mean nothing, because there is no powerhouse to have an upset over. There are no loveable underdogs, there are no champions, there are no dynasties. Super Bowl winners only win because some team has to, not because they earned it. No team today would have a chance against any of the teams of 10 and 15 years ago. Skill has taken a major nosedive in addition to all the other problems. Big money is doing it’s best to ruin the football that I grew up with as a kid. I am not contributing to that crap anymore, no NFL Sunday ticket, no NFL channel, no hats, no jerseys NOTHING! I REFUSE TO WATCH!

The only thing I can think of is that the rest of my Dallas Cowboy fan friends have not stopped and noticed all the things that have happened. Because it is not acceptable at all!

Good for you. Denying yourself something you love because of your morals, which have no bearing on Cowboy football.

That's bright. Real bright. We could sign a proven murderer tomorrow, and if he helped us score one extra touchdown, I'm for the move.

Just win baby. None of this "Oh my god, he's CLASSLESS" crap.

The Answer respects your opinion, and definitely agrees that the NFL has changed....probably for the worse. The salary cap era has made it difficult for teams to have an extended run of success like we had in the 90's. That's why you can't anything for granted and boycotting what promises to be a roller coster ride of a season in 2006 just because you hate TO is a bit extreme. The Answer just don't see TO reverting back to his old tricks, especially since he got the payday he was looking for. Call it greed if you like, but at least he will be appeased and hopefully shut his mouth.

There were 1,000 things I was upset about following that San Francisco game, and TO standing on the star was at the very bottom of the list. It was a completely gutless, neutered performance by the team. It perfectly symbolized what I think was an era of a timid head coach leading a bunch of timid players. Touchdown celebrations are like running up the score ... if you don't like it, don't let them do it to you. George Teague was no hero of mine because he pushed TO after getting beaten like a rented mule for the entire afternoon. The Cowboys disgraced the star that day.

Ok, where do you start after being a one sport, one team fan for 27 years? Where? No team can ever replace the Cowboys for me. None.

if that rings true, why quit now because of one player? what if he helps us win a Super BOwl? keyword, helps, it's a teamsport, I don't get how one player can ruin the feelings you feel for a team, esp. one you've rooted 27 years for? I've only been rooting for the Cowboys since '92, and I can't fathom one player making me stop rooting for them, much less 27 years

There's no fun in the Cowboys because of him. This has nothing to do with the hypocrite story which was very powerful in your life, but has no parallel in watching football. He's closer to the team than I am? Of course he is, he's wearing a jersey. Trouble is, that's not the team I knew.

And I'm giving t.o. no power, no money, no revenue from me. That's all he cares about. If all Dallas fans refused to watch until t.o. was off the team would that force Jerry to cut him and NOT increase his power or his money.

But today's Dallas fans aren't loyal to their own star. Someone can take a dump on it, and today's fans will overlook it if the individual has talent.

so basically, you're griping because Dallas is trying to win a Super Bowl...

I don't get it

loyalty to the star means you defend it and view those who desecrate it as enemies.

doesn't defending the star mean you stop the opposing team, or player, from getting into our endzone in order to desecrate on it?

I like the NFL, but it's just a bunch of professionals working for a paycheck.

it's also the best football players in the world competing with each other, I appreciate the camaridirie (SPelling) of college football as much as the next guy, or gal, but the NFL is a totally different ballgame

Most are not

95% of all NCAA football players will never even try to enter the draft, let alone play in the NFL. Most are there playing to pay for school and because they love it.

Trust me, its why I do it (or at least did).

I think the service academies: Army, Navy and the Air Force, are the only teams that have players on it who don't care about being drafted or not
