Dang! I would have loved to have kept him but not at that price.
Good player and a great guy.

I'm going to start taking names and remind you whiners when Dallas does well next season and you decide to jump back onto the bandwagon. I guess that's what happens when the average age of your fan base is 16...

It's almost not fair.
tunahelper;2662128 said:Bernard is far superior pass rusher than Canty. Canty got 4 sacks playing next to Ware. He played nicket DT next to Ware also. He aint no Reggie White!

good luck to him except against 'boys

Why in the heck do they need him unless they can get him on the cheap? He would almost have to be a DT for them.
justbob;2662133 said:DO we get a second for Canty?
Actually, I was thinking the same thing after I posted it.TheCount;2662141 said:Absolutely, I actually hope he has a horrible career from this point on since he decided to stay in division.
Considering all the guys they've got and how their defense performed without it's two best players last year, it's probably safe to say they know a little something about defensive players so if they choose to pay him that, probably means they like what he brings.

BBWC;2662140 said:You don't know how he will perform as a pass rusher in a 4-3 DT capacity. The responsibilities are vastly different. The Giants primarily play a one gap scheme, whereas with the Cowboys Canty had multiple gap responsibilities and was asked to eat up blocks to free up linebackers.
tunahelper;2662152 said:Not in the nickel. No way you can defend this move or be excited about it. He played rush DT next to D.Ware and barely mustard a few sacks. Pathetic!
Now maybe you think OL's were worried about Canty and double & tripled teamed him and thus feeing Ware up to rush?
Alexander;2662154 said:Unreal.
Still, to this day, some people just don't understand that 3-4 ends are not going to be sack masters.
tunahelper;2662156 said:Who me? Because I thought it clearly stated my reference to be Canty in the 4-2. Just asking?
Alexander;2662162 said:People still bring up the sack thing when talking about our lineman. You did it yourself just then.
A 4-3 tackle has different responsibilities and often will be asked to penetrate. We didn't have him do much of that, so grading him by his sack output is a pointless exercise.
I'll take the Giants' opinion on him over people here who desperately want to trash the signing so they feel better about a divisional rival getting stronger.
