Dang! I would have loved to have kept him but not at that price.

Good player and a great guy.

The overall whiny/*****iness on this board is unreal. The Giants are so good... they're the beasts of the NFCE...waah! waah! The Patriots are the model franchise of NFL history. Everyone wants to play for them... why can't our name be the Dallas Patriots. Waah! Waah!

I'm going to start taking names and remind you whiners when Dallas does well next season and you decide to jump back onto the bandwagon. I guess that's what happens when the average age of your fan base is 16...

Nice post!!! It does get old, doesn't it....

It's almost not fair.

And almost senseless.

Why in the heck do they need him unless they can get him on the cheap? He would almost have to be a DT for them.

Bernard is far superior pass rusher than Canty. Canty got 4 sacks playing next to Ware. He played nicket DT next to Ware also. He aint no Reggie White!

You don't know how he will perform as a pass rusher in a 4-3 DT capacity. The responsibilities are vastly different. The Giants primarily play a one gap scheme, whereas with the Cowboys Canty had multiple gap responsibilities and was asked to eat up blocks to free up linebackers.

good luck to him except against 'boys

Absolutely, I actually hope he has a horrible career from this point on since he decided to stay in division.

Considering all the guys they've got and how their defense performed without it's two best players last year, it's probably safe to say they know a little something about defensive players so if they choose to pay him that, probably means they like what he brings.

DO we get a second for Canty?

No comp. picks start at the end of the 3rd. Considering the size of this contract I'd venture to we're pretty much guaranteed a 3rd rounder next year, which is good news.

He'll likely see time all over the line, like Tuck and Kiwi. He'll primarily play DT, but he could see time at DE as well. The flexibility this affords the Giants is mind boggling. Kiwi could even find his way at linebacker from time to time.

Take my name. I am on record, hence why i posted. If i am wrong, then i will be extremely happy to be. I don’t live on a bandwagon, i know my team and breath silver and blue. I have responded in kindness, you have broken forum rules by insulting me. Now you are on record.

Not in the nickel. No way you can defend this move or be excited about it. He played rush DT next to D.Ware and barely mustard a few sacks. Pathetic!
Now maybe you think OL's were worried about Canty and double & tripled teamed him and thus feeing Ware up to rush?

Unreal.

Still, to this day, some people just don't understand that 3-4 ends are not going to be sack masters.

Who me? Because I thought it clearly stated my reference to be Canty in the 4-2. Just asking?

People still bring up the sack thing when talking about our lineman. You did it yourself just then.

A 4-3 tackle has different responsibilities and often will be asked to penetrate. We didn't have him do much of that, so grading him by his sack output is a pointless exercise.

I'll take the Giants' opinion on him over people here who desperately want to trash the signing so they feel better about a divisional rival getting stronger.

except for Canty's height procludes him from penetrating, OGs are going to get under his shoulder pads all the time, and Canty isn't nearly quick enough or strong enough to compensate

whatever, it's obvious Canty is trying to screw us

Yeah Luis Castillo couldn't do it in Wade's scheme. Oh wait....

That's pretty frustrating.

Teams are going to lose players.

But to lose a solid, young defensive lineman who is entering his prime years to a division rival who already has a better team is a difficult thing.
