Canty signs 6 year, $42 million dollar deal with Giants *merge*

Christ, why did it have to be in the division? Happy for him; bummed for us.

People still bring up the sack thing when talking about our lineman. You did it yourself just then.

A 4-3 tackle has different responsibilities and often will be asked to penetrate. We didn't have him do much of that, so grading him by his sack output is a pointless exercise.

I'll take the Giants' opinion on him over people here who desperately want to trash the signing so they feel better about a divisional rival getting stronger.

Well you are right in base defense, however the nickel defense has no such gap responsibilities. Ask yourself a commonsense question, Why would you play gap responsibilities on 3rd & 10 and have your DT's clogging running lanes? Pretty stupid, right?

Wade has talked about this before in his PC's. I was addressing that fact, since most sacks come when you are in your nickel defense. Even with Ware playing opposite of him and Canty playing right DT in the NICKEL one would think he could have been more effective.

Maybe you should read my posts closely before making judgements on my ability to know gap control? If you like, I can teach you about shading an OL and how this is used in the 3-4 or 4-3. $200 a video....

He's so upset at us he just decided to sign with them out of spite? LOL

Reese has shown himself to be a good talent evaluator.

And the Giants love to load up on defensive linemen...I really don't understand why everyone is making a stink about that as if it makes no sense to do so...isn't that what Jimmy did with our D Line, rotating guys in and out. The Giants understand that good defense starts with pressure on the QB.

cuz Canty is a sore *****

Nah, he just followed the money. I mean, who was offering him more? No one that I could see. If only Miami had poached him.

1st teams on his list:

Washington

New York

yeah, I think this signing was intentional to say, "screw you Dallas, you didn't want to pay me, now I'll see you twice a year, even though I'm not very good, I was tailor-made to play in the 3-4 and was mostly average"

and it can't be all about the money, Tennessee has a boat-load more to spend, yet they were like 4th on his list

Yeah Luis Castillo couldn't do it in Wade's scheme. Oh wait....

Lol exactly. If you're a front 7 player and can't put up numbers under Wade then you're just not gonna put up numbers, simple as that.

Giant's D is gonna be a beast against the run though.

And Luis Castillo is a better player than Canty. And Aaron Smith is a very good DE for the Steelers too. By and large, most 3-4 ends aren't going to register sacks even close to the clip of a standard 4-3 tackle.

i hope his career is a flop in ny. im pretty sure he wont live up to that contract, hes definitely not worth that kind of money.

glad we didnt make him that offer

That is simply to much $$$ for Canty.

The NY media probably won't have great reviews for this move I wouldn't think.

I wish he had stayed but at that price I say so long.

His agent made it very clear he was after the money. Green Bay was very interested but they weren't offering the type of money Washington started with before they got Haynesworth or what the Giants ended up hitting.

Tennessee may have a boat-load more and they haven't come off a penny. Just because they have it doesn't mean they are actively trying to spend it.
