Canty signs 6 year, $42 million dollar deal with Giants *merge*

Speaking of overpaying for a player, Haynesworth definately comes to mind especially when your oline is OLD and INJURED all the time...
Hey I was saying I think you guys made a good call not re-signing Canty
I am sure there was another thread that covered the Haynesworth signing, however, I will enjoy watching when Haynesworth and Carter meet around Romo.
(that is unless Flo is called for False Start)

If the Cowboys draft a 6-7, 350+ pound guard, you won't enjoy it. When he locks on to you, it's over.:)

I love how you mention Carter and Haynesworth in the same sentence as if Carter is even half the player Haynesworth is.

Haynesworth got owned by Gurode before. No reason to think he can't own him again.

rofl, that for chris freakin canty?!?!?!? wow, i cant believe teams pay that much for mediocrity!

Its a shame Jayson Taylor retired last year. I could of sworn he was supposed to wreal havoc as well

Gurode owns Haynesworth, end of discussion.

Man I couldn't agree more, Gurode handles him well. I'm not worried about him coming to the NFC east at all....

If Canty signs there he's got his head stuck somewhere it should not be. Usi will be back. Tuck is there. Kiwanuka is there. He would have much more value as a 3-4 DE than to move to DT and that is exactly what he would have to do to get any playing time.
They are probably moving Kiwanuka back to LB.

I hate the fact we lost Canty but this is part of FA. I think Dallas did the right thing I don't question that but still hate to lose a good player

Losing Spagnuolo and picking up Canty, Boley, etc. is, by far, a net loss. The Giants defense won't be as good as they were when Spags was there.

We hope. There's a reason Canty started over him.

Could have something to do with Canty being very good against the run. I don't think it was cause he created more pressure.

yeah the coaches are stupid. their was also a reason miles austin was returning kicks instead of Felix. Anthony henry was starting over jenkins and scandrick. cory proctor was starting over anybody.

Great point. It's not exactly as if the coaches don't get the starting, or playing time, things messed up from time to time.

As for Canty I'm sad to see him go cause I was a fan of him but I agree with it cause as much as I liked him I don't think he was nearly good enough to get that kind of cash.

The G-Men continue to improve their already impressive line. It's a good thing for them that they do otherwise their secondary would get exposed.

canty is a solid player that IMO is overpaid with this contract. maybe he'll achieve more with tuck and osi next to him but he couldn't earn that kind of money with ware and ratliff on either side. kid is a good player and i'd like to have kept him. but not for that money. if we get a NT, JR can move to the DE position. If not, bowen and hatcher can be as effective and solid as canty was.

Take my name. I am on record, hence why i posted. If i am wrong, then i will be extremely happy to be. I don’t live on a bandwagon, i know my team and breath silver and blue. I have responded in kindness, you have broken forum rules by insulting me. Now you are on record.

Cost aside, this is a major blow to our line. Hatcher is a HUGE dropoff in quality.

I don't know about that at all. Hatcher is far more athletic than Canty IMO.

Canty was perfect for Parcells' system, but I think Hatcher is more suited to Wade's.

Now whether Hatcher has the toughness and tenacity and discipline to compete down after down after down is certainly a question, but I think Hatcher is every bit the prospect Canty was. Maybe better for this system.

And we still can't rule out a vet DE signing, either.
