Damn. That's an impressive front 7 with good depth.

That Giants defense is going to be very, very good next year. Again.

luckily, we have 3 very good backs

unluckily, we have Jason Garrett as Ocoordinator

I just read my post and realized that it was riddled with epic failure, haha. I was reading something and posted two different thoughts in one. Another post on another board I visit says a similar thing but talks about Canty playing DT.

I'd like to rescind that statement, and then agree with most posters that he will likely struggle at DT.

Good man. :)

Cant will more then likely start, I personally think he is too tall to be an effective 3 tech. That double team that he is going to influence is going to have his way with him.

Regardless of whether he was a good signing by the Giants, I wouldn't feel comfortable paying him that much money at all to play here.

I know what you're saying . . . . but since it's not my money . . . . :)

I think after watching the Commanders evade cap hell year after year, I no longer believe in the system (or at least what the system was intended to do).

I agree that is too much money for Canty. However, he's young and he'll be a good player for NY barring injury. The Giants and Commanders have gotten ALOT better in FA. Dallas has now regressed.

Very true.

However, I can't help but to think what in the hey were the gents thinking.

3techs have to have a very good 'get off', great lower body leverage, take on double teams, keep lb(s) clean while transitioning to a pass rush. It is a thankless job that is hard to excel at.

The double teams with a strong side guard and tackle are significantly different from what Canty is accustomed to. I am curious to see how it will turn out.

Car to explain how we regressed? This should be interesting.

Way too much $ for him - I wouldn't have been happy had we done that.

That being said, good for him. Wish he didn't go to a division rival, but that's how it goes.

These sporting contracts are outrageous.

A lot better? Really? The Giants as of now don't have a number 1 receiver and will probably lose their 2nd running back who ran for 1,000 yards.

The Commanders signed an overrated, overpriced player who can't make it an entire season and still have Jason Campbell as their qb.

A lot better? Definitely not.

His agent made it very clear he was after the money. Green Bay was very interested but they weren't offering the type of money Washington started with before they got Haynesworth or what the Giants ended up hitting.

Tennessee may have a boat-load more and they haven't come off a penny. Just because they have it doesn't mean they are actively trying to spend it.

That is because Bud Adams is a cheap arse, seriously.

They are always letting their players walk instead of paying them. From Derek Mason to Samari Rolle to Javon Kearse to John Runyan to Albert Haynesworth, ect.......

They are notorious for being one of the most frugal franchises in the NFL, they usually never give big paydays to anybody.

The Giants haven't let go of Plaxico yet. As of now, he is still with the team. They may lose Ward... but they still have Bradshaw. And they can always pick up another back in the draft.

What they have done... is get more talent on the DL by signing Benard and Canty. Add in Osi returning to the team, and they essentially added 2 good players and a great player to the DL.

Then, they signed Boley to shore up their LB group.

Giants have gotten better.

Plus, they have a 1st rounder and 2 2nd rounders.

Was Canty wearing a ski mask during his NY visit???

$42 mill for Canty with $17.5 guaranteed is just beyond dumb, he is making more coin than Osi now.

Canty has never, and I repeat never, been to a probowl and he is being paid more than Osi, amazing!!!

Noway in hell I would have paid Canty that type of coin. I applaud Jerry for having the balls to say NO to Canty and his agent, I would have been on the floor laughing my ares off if Canty and his agent were in my office wanting $40 mill.

HAAAAAABAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Probowls don't make a player good or bad. Newman got paid and he hasn't been to a probowl.

He's been to 1 Pro Bowl, last year, when we sent everyone to the Pro Bowl.

I liken this one to us letting Dockery go 2 years ago. He was a good player, but no way worth what the Bills paid. I would not be shocked if in a couple years the Giants realize they overpaid, and you guys get him back at a better deal. A lot of players like to "come home again"

Speaking of overpaying for a player, Haynesworth definately comes to mind especially when your oline is OLD and INJURED all the time...
