Looks like Cowboys will have to address DT early in the draft after all.

Not really. NT Hankins and 3-tech Odighizuwa are the starters and Golston and Gallimore are contributors. We also have Bohanna as the backup NT, but don't think we're too thrilled about that, so we'll take another NT stab late in the draft.

There are plenty of dts left in Fa. I would love to draft one but we have more pressing needs.
I wish this would motivate them to sign Robinson or Ford, but I doubt either of those are in our bargain market range. We might add a low-cost one, but I think we're satisfied with the position heading into the draft.

Cowboys D was ranked 24th vs the run last year in run stop win rate. That was with Carlos Watkins around to help. He's gone now. There's a void to be filled. You're happy with what's left and how they ranked 24th out of 32 teams against the run last year but with a key DT player now gone?

Didn't say I was happy with it. I said how I believe Dallas looks at it. They signed Hankins, so they are covered at starting NT. Odighizuwa is the starting 3-tech. Golston came on as a 5-tech. They are not looking at starters. They are looking at backups, and especially when it comes to NTs, they have shown that they are not going to look early.

I believe the team even gave some praise to Gallimore this offseason, so I don't really know if the Joneses were all that concerned with keeping Watkins. Wouldn't be surprised if his deal is close to the same range as Hankins, which was barely above the minimum.

Plus, I believe their run defense improved quite a bit after acquiring Hankins, so I think they saw him as the key re-signing there.
