Well if RW and the Skins couldnt come to an agreement, then I imagine they would let Dallas talk to him if they liked the compensation. Of course, you could always have Dallas slip word through their agent that they'll match whatever the skins offer...

I think if the Skins were really lowballing him, and Detroit knew that there was no way that Roy would accept the deal, then they would turn to Dallas to make sure they got something. But remember - this is a case of the Skins not offering enough financially making Detroit negotiate with Dallas - not Roy's desire to play in Dallas. If Detroit thought that Washington's contract was reasonable, they would likely call Roy's bluff, and not allow him to negotiate with other teams because Williams would be crazy to turn down a fair contract extension.

The Lions are THE TEAM that is dumb enough. Also, don't forget that Dallas also has the advantage in picks this year out of the three rumored "suitors". Two first round picks might sound good to a nimrod like Millen.

I'm late to this party and I can't stay long but.....I don't think Detroit wants to trade Roy Williams. Roy has been a good member of Detroit's team and there are a number of reasons why they will make every effort to keep him. Jerry says something to the effect that a player's value is not particularly high on draft day but somehow we are to believe that Detroit is going to suddenly decide it is in their best interest to make a trade at the end of round 1 on Saturday.

Declaring Millen to be stupid or declaring that Roy is "unaffordable" seems like a large case of wishful thinking to me. I believe Roy would love to play for the Dallas Cowboys (who wouldn't? . It does not change the fact that Detroit desn't want to trade him and really has little incentive to do so.

I agree. If I were Detroit, I would be focusing my energy on negotiating an extension rather than a trade.

Why? If Roy does not want to be in Detriot why waste your time? Just get the best deal you can get for him while you CAN.
