I don't know, maybe running the damn football on/near the goal line in VERY favorable down and distance situations? Maybe that would help? Maybe???????

This is ridiculous after 10 plus years in the league.

Thank you. I was hoping someone said this. This QB isn't a rookie anymore.
An old saying goes......If a dog doesn't bite as a pup, he probably isn't going to ever bite.

As a pup, Romo didn't buy into the importance of protecting the ball at all times. I don't think he will change his ways now.

The biggest thing is, don't get down big early.

As soon as Dallas had the fumble and the first INT, I told my buddy that Romo was going to have a lot of picks that day.

I have seen it too many times. Romo is a gambler at heart, but when the game is close or Dallas is winning, he takes care of the ball. But give him a decent number of points that he needs to come back from and in his mind, it justifies all of the risky throws that he normall fights against.

Romo feels like chances need to be taken to overcome the point differential, and as Parcells used to like to say, Romo goes off of the reservation. He just lets go when they're losing big early and takes the governor off. He will make some big throws that way (ie the long pass to Harris)... but he will make a lot more mistakes than he normally would too.

This is just my opinion, of course... but I was correct when I said he was going to throw some more INT's.

At age 34 and at this stage of his Cowboys career, isn't it a little late to be helping a QB with bad decisions/bad thows?????

Ok Tony. Don't throw into double & triple coverage. I'm kind of thinking he knew that already. He did it anyway.

He was definitely not into that game last Sunday.

I don't know what the heck was going on ... but this upcoming Sunday will tell us a whole lot.

I think this is exactly what happens. Romo's said as much in interviews--that he'll ratchet up the risk in adverse game situations.

I'd argue that the issue last week wasn't risky throws. He made bad reads or just bad decisions. The ball wasn't going where the play dictated, and it cost us.

Weren't we talking about the very same thing 5 years ago and every year since? What have they been doing all that time? The time to fix the risky throws thing was BEFORE you gave him $100 million contract!

I agree with that for this past week also.

Cowboys trying to find ways to help QB not make risky throws

Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo tried on two occasions during a Week 1 loss against the 49ers to force the football to wide receiver Dez Bryant despite being covered by multiple defenders. Both times Romo threw interceptions.

"I think it’s pretty clear -- you don’t force the ball to people," head coach Jason Garrett said, per ESPN. "Dez is a great player, but [Jason Witten is] a great player too. Terrance Williams, Cole Beasley, Devin Street, Dwayne Harris, all those guys are really, really good football players, who, if given an opportunity, are going to come through for us. Tony understands that. Tony’s typically struck a really nice balance about trying to give these guys a chance and understanding how to read things out and throwing the ball to the right guy."

As one of the top wide receivers in the NFL, defenses will pay extra attention to Bryant on a weekly basis. Garrett said it will be up to the coaching staff to find ways to get the football to Bryant without having Romo make risky throws.

"It’s what happens every week in the NFL," Garrett said. "Dez Bryant, if you look at his whole body of work throughout his career, he’s gotten doubled throughout most games every game he’s every play. The same thing with Jason Witten. These guys are really good players. Week in and week out they find ways, we’ve tried to find ways to give them opportunities."

I said it in another post. seemed like romo was forcing it to dez and witten to make sure they are involved in the game, instead of taking what was available to him and trust his other weapons....

I posted this yesterday somewhere on here but Willis said he could not believe Tony threw that one ball he intercepted.
