sure couldn't get off the field on 3rd down thats for sure, but i'll hold judgement to say we stink.

They haven't flashed the chargers 3rd down conversion rate, but I would guess it's over 75 percent.

Not really diggin' this defense. I am officially worried now.

I went into my options today and noticed I had a lot of folks on "ignore",whether from the old politics forum,or from really stupid, inane comments about the team. I decided to start the year fresh by cancelling those "ignores".
I can see now it won't take long to start adding to it again.

:laugh2: Indeed

another long year i'm afraid
It's amazing the sweeping generalizations that can be made and the knowledge that can be obtained from 1 1/2 preseason games after a gimped offseason. Why even bother playing this year? Some apparently already know the outcome.

With a different style of defense? Sure. You cannot accurately assess this defense without all of your starters...ESPECIALLY after 1 1/2 preseason games.

Are you going to honestly sit there and proclaim to know how this defense will be this year? If so, let's get it on record.

This defense sucks and will for the majority of the season. There, you have it on record.

Not really considering he did a decent job with the Commanders and has been fairly successful in San Diego.

That is not awful.

He did a terrible job in Washington. The team declined under his watch. And he's had top talent in San Diego and still can't win with it.

He's in the bottom tier of head coaches in the league. He's the offensive Wade Phillips. You'll never, ever win anything with Norv Turner as your head coach.

Considering that last year Jenkins was one of the worst starting CBs in the entire league and Newman is, AGAIN, gimpy. Yes, that's actually possible. Scandrick was playing better than both Newman and Jenkins at the end of last year, and the reports out of camp is that he's having a great camp. It's really nice to see it translate to an actual game.
It's possible but certainly not likely.

The defense will be a work in progress, but I expect it will be decent enough to keep us in most games with our offense.

This.

The D-line is getting pushed back way too easily.

In fact, so is the offensive line.

The focus is on Igor, but it's not just Igor.

Hopefully Igor is gone he has been a disaster out there all night. I think that will help getting him off the field.

I'm sure he is somewhat. Mostly this is just a God aweful defense.

What did you really expect to happen? That the D would pick up the scheme and play lights out right off the bat?

Did you forget about the lockout and not having OTAs or mini-camps to teach these guys all of the ins and outs of the defense?

What about the FA players that had to sit out a week before practicing? They now have 2 yes 2 weeks of practice under their belt with this scheme.

I've seen alot of improvement since the first game. Run D is alot better with Coleman in the lineup and our blitz pressure caused some rushed throws. The secondary and front 7 are communicating alot more also pre-snap. Our tackling is alot better especially from Ball.

This team is tiresome a times... Bradie grinning coming off the field yucking it up w Choice.... Demarcus and Spencer looking disengaged ... Blah.

Risen Star is an awful poster. He was terrible last week. The board really declined under his watch. And he's had top posts to respond too and still can't win with it.

He's in the bottom tier of posters on the board. He's the Internet's Wade Phillips. You'll never, ever learn anything with Risen Star posting.

Outstanding. There's no comeback to that kind of brilliance.

Igor sucks and I think they're missing Hatcher. No Hatcher = more of Igor's crappiness on the field.

No they did notdecline in Washington. He inherited an old, 4-12 team and built them up to a playoff contender in 3 years with horrible front office and ownership.

He's been successful in a tough conference in the AFC.

Bag on the guy all you want, but it doesn't mean your opinion is an informed one.

I don't know where the worrying is coming from when our two starting defensive backs aren't playing yet. When they're back (and you know Mike Jenkins should be to start the season, uncertain on Terrence Newman) then you're not going to see us getting killed in single coverage situations. Obviously Ball and Scandrick can't defend starters, but we already knew that. Everybody else looks okay, Sensabaugh was extremely close to having an interception, Barry Church had a great play, and Abram Elam brought a lot of pressure on one play.
